Beloved, while eagerly preparing to write to you about the salvationwe share, I find it necessary to write and appeal to you to contend forthe faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. For certainintruders have stolen in among you, people who long ago weredesignated for this condemnation as ungodly, who pervert the graceof our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord,Jesus Christ.

Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about thesalvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend forthe faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. For certain menwhose condemnation was written about long ago have secretlyslipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the graceof our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ ouronly Sovereign and Lord . Beloved, being very eager to write to you of our common salvation, Ifound it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faithwhich was once for all delivered to the saints. For admission hasbeen secretly gained by some who long ago were designated for thiscondemnation, ungodly persons who pervert the grace of our Godinto licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the commonsalvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort youthat ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was oncedelivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept inunawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation,

ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, anddenying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

My dear friends, at a time when I was eagerly looking forward towriting to you about the salvation that we all share, I felt that I mustwrite to you encouraging you to fight hard for the faith which hasbeen once and for all entrusted to God's holy people. Certain peoplehave infiltrated among you, who were long ago marked down forcondemnation on this account; without any reverence they pervertthe grace of our God to debauchery and deny all religion, rejectingour only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ

My friends, I was fully engaged in writing to you about our salvation- which is yours no less than ours - when it became urgentlynecessary to write at once and appeal to you to join the struggle indefence of the faith, the faith which God entrusted to his people onceand for all. It is in danger from certain persons who have wormedtheir way in, the very men whom Scripture long ago marked downfor the doom they have incurred. They are the enemies of religion;they pervert the free favour of our God into licentiousness, disowning Jesus Christ, our only Master and Lord.

Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about ourcommon salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing thatyou contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handeddown to the saints. For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, thosewho were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness

and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ . Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about ourcommon salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you tocontend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. Forcertain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designatedfor this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of ourGod into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Beloved, although I was making every effort to write to you aboutour common salvation, I now feel a need to write to encourage you

to contend for the faith that was once for all handed down to the holyones. For there have been some intruders, who long ago weredesignated for this condemnation, godless persons, who pervert thegrace of our God into licentiousness and who deny our only Masterand Lord, Jesus Christ.

My dear friends, I really wanted to write you about God's saving power atwork in our lives. But instead, I must write and ask you to defend the faiththat God has once for all given to his people. Some godless people havesneaked in among us and are saying, "God treats us much better than wedeserve, and so it is all right to be immoral." They even deny that we mustobey Jesus Christ as our only Master and Lord. But long ago the Scriptureswarned that these godless people were doomed.

Now I desire to remind you, though you are fully informed, that theLord, who once for all saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterwards destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels whodid not keep their own position, but left their proper dwelling, he haskept in eternal chains in deepest darkness for the judgement of thegreat day. Likewise, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surroundingcities, which, in the same manner as they, indulged in sexualimmorality and pursued unnatural lust, serve as an example byundergoing a punishment of eternal fire.

Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lorddelivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who didnot believe. And the angels who did not keep their positions ofauthority but abandoned their own homethese he has kept indarkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the greatDay. In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surroundingtowns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. Theyserve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternalfire.

Now I desire to remind you, though you were once for all fullyinformed, that he who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels thatdid not keep their own position but left their proper dwelling havebeen kept by him in eternal chains in the nether gloom until the

judgment of the great day; just as Sodom and Gomor'rah and thesurrounding cities, which likewise acted immorally and indulged inunnatural lust, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment ofeternal fire.

I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. And the angels whichkept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hathreserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment ofthe great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities aboutthem in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, andgoing after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the

    vengeance of eternal fire.

I should like to remind you -- though you have already learnt it once and forall - that the Lord rescued the nation from Egypt, but afterwards he stilldestroyed the people who refused to believe him; and the angels who didnot keep to the authority they had, but left their appointed sphere, he haskept in darkness in eternal bonds until the judgement of the great Day.Sodom and Gomorrah, too, and the neighbouring towns, who with the same

sexual immorality pursued unnatural lusts, are put before us as an examplesince they are paying the penalty of eternal fire. You already know it all, but let me remind you how the Lord, having oncedelivered the people of Israel out of Egypt, next time destroyed those whowere guilty of unbelief. Remember too the angels, how some of them werenot content to keep the dominion given to them but abandoned their properhome; and God has reserved them for judgement on the great Day, boundbeneath the darkness in everlasting chains. Remember Sodom andGomorrah and the neighbouring towns; like the angels, they committedfornication and followed unnatural lusts; and they paid the penalty in eternalfire, an example for all to see.

Now I desire to remind you, though you know all things once for all, thatthe Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, subsequentlydestroyed those who did not believe. And angels who did not keep theirown domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternalbonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day, just as Sodom andGomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as theseindulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited asan example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.

Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, whosaved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who didnot believe. And the angels who did not stay within their own position of

authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains undergloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day just as Sodom andGomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexualimmorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example byundergoing a punishment of eternal fire.I wish to remind you, although you know all things, that (the) Lord whoonce saved a people from the land of Egypt later destroyed those who didnot believe. The angels too, who did not keep to their own domain butdeserted their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains, in gloom, forthe judgment of the great day. Likewise, Sodom, Gomorrah, and thesurrounding towns, which, in the same manner as they, indulged in sexualpromiscuity and practiced unnatural vice, serve as an example by

undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.

Don't forget what happened to those people that the Lord rescued fromEgypt. Some of them did not have faith, and he later destroyed them. Youalso know about the angels who didn't do their work and left their properplaces. God chained them with everlasting chains and is now keeping themin dark pits until the great day of judgment. We should also be warned bywhat happened to the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and the nearbytowns. Their people became immoral and did all sorts of sexual sins. ThenGod made an example of them and punished them with eternal fire.

So too with these men today. Their dreams lead them to defile the body, toflout authority, and to insult celestial beings. In contrast, when the archangelMichael was in debate with the devil, disputing the possession of Moses'sbody, he did not presume to condemn him in insulting words, but said, 'Maythe Lord rebuke you!' But these men pour abuse upon things they do notunderstand; the things they do understand, by instinct like brute beasts,

    prove their undoing.

Yet in the same way these men, also by dreaming, defile the flesh, andreject authority, and revile angelic majesties. But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, didnot dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, "The Lordrebuke you!" But these men revile the things which they do not understand;and the things which they know by instinct, like unreasoning animals, bythese things they are destroyed.

Yet in like manner these people also, relying on their dreams, defile theflesh, reject authority, and blaspheme the glorious ones. But when the

archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the bodyof Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, butsaid, "The Lord rebuke you." But these people blaspheme all that they donot understand, and they are destroyed by all that they, like unreasoninganimals, understand instinctively.

Similarly, these dreamers nevertheless also defile the flesh, scorn lordship, and revile glorious beings. Yet the archangel Michael, when he argued withthe devil in a dispute over the body of Moses, did not venture to pronouncea reviling judgment upon him but said, "May the Lord rebuke you!" Butthese people revile what they do not understand and are destroyed by whatthey know by nature like irrational animals.

The people I am talking about are behaving just like those dreamerswho destroyed their own bodies. They reject all authority and insultangels. Even Michael, the chief angel, didn't dare to insult the devil, when the two of them were arguing about the body of Moses. AllMichael said was, "The Lord will punish you!" But these peopleinsult powers they don't know anything about. They are likesenseless animals that end up getting destroyed, because they liveonly by their feelings.

Weh ihnen!

Now they are in for real trouble. They have followed Cain'sexample and have made the same mistake that Balaam did by

caring only for money. They have also rebelled against God, just as Korah did. Because of all this, they will be destroyed.

Woe unto them! For they went in the way of Cain, and ranriotously in the error of Balaam for hire, and perished in thegainsaying of Korah.

Woe to them! They go the road of Cain, rush into Balaamserror for what it brings them, and perish in Korahs rebellion.

Woe to them! For they walked in the way of Cain, they plunged into Balaam's error for profit, and through thecontroversy of Korah they perished.

Woe to these that have gone the way of Cain, and abandonedthemselves for gain to the deceit of Balaam, and are destroyedin the rebellion of Korah.

And convince some, who doubt; save some, by snatching them out ofthe fire; on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garmentspotted by the flesh.

And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others savewith fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garmentspotted by the flesh.

To some you must be compassionate because they are wavering;others you must save by snatching them from the fire; to others againyou must be compassionate but wary, hating even the tunic stained

by their bodies. There are some doubting souls who need your pity; snatch them fromthe flames and save them. There are others for whom your pity must

be mixed wi th fear; hate the very clothing that is contaminated withsensuality.

And have mercy on some, who are doubting; save others, snatchingthem out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even

the garment polluted by the flesh.

And have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching themout of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even thegarment stained by the flesh .

On those who waver, have mercy; save others by snatching them outof the fire; on others have mercy with fear, abhorring even the outergarment stained by the flesh.

Snatch some from the fire, and have mercy on the waverers, trembling as you touch them, with loathing for the garment which the flesh has stained.
