Weekly Stewardship Thought

The phrase in today’s psalm, “May you see your children’s children,” is really a prayer for a long life. The good steward known that every day is a gift from God, to be lived with joy and thanksgiving. “May the

Lord bless us all the days of our lives!”

The Key to the Kingdom of God

Jesus stopped His disciples in their tracks with these words, “Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is such as these that the Kingdom of God belongs.”

Children may play less of a role in direct decision making in the adult world… yet the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these

little children. What is it that makes children prime recipients of the Kingdom of God?

We don’t believe He was talking specifically about that group of children that were in His midst that very day. Theologians believe He was talking about the way in which kids think and receive. He was talking about how we need to respond to His invitation, just as a child would respond when given a gift. We must recognize that salvation is ultimately a gift from God. We cannot earn it on our own. It is the greatest gift. To receive this gift like a child means that we recognize that we did nothing to earn the salvation …that it is truly by the grace and generosity of God.

When we read about the ways Jesus approached people, cir-cumstances, healing and teaching, we continue to see the sincerity and simplicity which is the basis of what we call Christianity. Like a child, our total trust in God needs to be the center of our faith. The key God wants us to carry with us, is the faith, trust, sincerity and obedience in Him who cares for us and knows our every need.

Take care of yourself and each other,Deacon Jeff

Child Sacrifice

September 24th, 2021, in the Congress of the United States of America, the United States House of Representatives voted on H.R. 3755 “Women’s Health Protection Act. Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco warned that the bill amounts to “child sacrifice.” Arch-bishop Joseph Naumann, chair of the U.S. bishop’s prolife committee said: “This deceptively-named bill would impose abortion on demand nationwide at any stage of pregnancy through federal statute.”ɨ The “child sacrifice” bill passed 218 yea to 211 nay. Here is how our eight Wisconsin members of congress voted. ɨɨ Fitzgerald Nay Republican Gallagher Nay Republican Grothman Nay Republican Kind Yea Democrat Moore Yea Democrat Pocan Yea Democrat Steil Nay Republican Tiffancy Nay Republican October is Respect Life Month. Saint Edward and Saint Nicholas parishes are participating in the “40 Days for Life” prayer vigil. Students in 4th grade were reading a book about being perfect. A character in their book wore broccoli around their neck for a day

and we’re surprised when they were given a broccoli necklace to wear themselves. The healthy necklace became quite pungent by the end of the

day according to the class, but they were good sports about keeping the funny necklace on.

Guardian Angels & Dignity of Human Life

On Saturday, October 2, we celebrated the Memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels.

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church; 336: “From infancy to death human life is surrounded by their (the angels) watchful care and intercession. Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life. Already here on earth the Christian life shares by faith in the blessed company of angels and men united to God.”

As we enter into Respect Life Month (month of October), we can ask the help of guardian angels!

“Angels are powerful and invisible spiritual beings tasked with doing God's work, and this includes assisting our efforts to spread the truth about the dignity of human life. How fitting to turn to the angels for assistance with spreading the pro-life message since they were the first proclaimers of the Gospel of Life! The angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she was to conceive and bear Jesus within her womb. Angels were the first messengers to share the good news of Christ's birth. Though the first duty of angels is to worship and adore the face of God, they also provide every human life with physical protection and spiritual guidance.”

“Through the intercession of the holy angels, may we be courageous witnesses to the dignity of each human life.” All human life! There are many threats against human life all around us (beginning in the womb, all the way through unnatural death (euthanasia and assisted suicide) and so many in between (examples: human trafficking, refugees, witnesses of faith, etc...)). Guardian angels, we thank you for your endless protection!
