VETERAN’S TREE The Veteran’s Tree is up as we celebrate the Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King. As has been tradition for many years at St. Catherine Parish, our tree consists of names of patients at the Veteran’s Hospital in Butler. The tree is loaded with names for each Mass this weekend, and every Mass hereafter, until they are all gone. For those of you who are new to our parish, we have instructions on how to participate

We have certain time constraints this year since Christmas is on a Tuesday.

For that reason we ask you to please be considerate of the due date!

PRESENTS MUST BE RETURNED

BY

MONDAY, DECEMBER 17TH!!!.

If you find it in your heart to be generous to a Veteran and procure their gift request, please follow these guidelines…please return your gift to the church by Monday, Dec. 17th!

1. PLEASE make a copy of your tag and keep it someplace separate in the event of a loss of the original. (Don’t roll your eyes, it happens EVERY year!)

2. DO NOT include any personalized messages or perishable edibles inside the package.

3. Please keep package decorations moderate since ornate wrappings may be damaged in the mass delivery.

4. Please attach the name tag to the outside of

the package, NAME UP!

5. There will be a separate box near the tree for envelopes with gift cards.

6. MOST IMPORTANTLY...please have your gift in the church by Monday, December 17th. The gifts will be delivered to the Butler Veterans Facility on Thursday December 20th. Anyone wishing to participate in loading and delivering the gifts that day, please be at the church by 9:30AM. (1/2 hour later than previous years) If you want to make the trip, remember it’s a 45 minute trip each way and we usually stop for lunch after drop-off.

Thank you for your generosity!

Food Drive Our food drive continues throughout the month of November. We are collecting non-

perishable food items for the St. Vincent de Paul chapter at Our Lady of Fatima. This or-ganization helps many in our area. If you would like to make a donation, please drop off your bag(s) in the bins provided at each door of the church. If you come during the week, stop in to the office and we’ll see that the food is put inside the church for weekly delivery. With all the disasters in our area, people are in dire need of food and assistance. If you wish to make a monetary donation, please make your check payable to “OLOF St. Vincent de Paul” Thank you, in advance, for “feeding the hungry”, a corporal work of mercy. ***************************************************************

ATTENTION EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS!

We are putting out a call for any Eucha-ristic Minister who is available to take Communion to the elderly or shut-ins of our parish. Our priests are trying to get a schedule together but some help would be much appreciated. Please call the of-fice if you can help out. Thank you, in ad-vance, for your time.

TRADITIONAL PRAYER As a diocese, Bishop Zubik is encouraging all par-ishes to pray for the intercession of St. Michael the Archangel for protection during these difficult times. Tradition has it that the prayer is said right before leaving the liturgy as we go out into the world. After the final blessing, the priest comes to the steps in front of the altar and all kneel, pray the prayer and then stand for the closing song.

St. Michael Prayer St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into Hell Satan and the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

Please Note...This prayer is NOT printed in the new missals beginning December 1st. If you cannot memorize this prayer, we will continue to run it in the bulletin for your convenience and participation.
