Health Ambassadors Our focus this term was help children be aware of the importance of looking after their teeth by having an Oral Health Week. During this week we hosted a competition and handed out brushing charts. Our competition was to create a rap or a poem about brushing teeth. Well done to everyone who entered the competition. The winners are Hiba 3W, Rayhan 6I and Aiza 4W. They will receive their prizes in or weekly golden assembly. Once the brushing charts are completed please return to the Health Ambassadors. Our focus next half term will be to spread the message about emotional well-being. We are hoping to host a dress down day, please look out for further information on this. After the success of last year we will be hosting Bring your pet to school day’. We will be telling you the dates of the events after half term. This term we have set some challenges for pupils in the school, this month we are challenging pupils to swap sugary foods in their lunch boxes for fruit. We are also concerned about the amount of pupils who do not have water bottles in school, therefore they are not drinking water and we will be doing some work to encourage this more especially as the weather will be getting warmer. Communication Team At the end of last term we asked you if you enjoyed being part of the Smart School Council and participating in weekly class meetings. We were really pleased to see that the winning result was Strongly Agree’. This term you have discussed many questions in your class meetings. One of the questions asked you to vote on how we could show kindness in our school community and you voted to create a kindness rock garden. Since the vote, an action team has formed The Kindness Squadand they are planning to hold a rock painting session during the first week back after half term. They are also planning to give each class a set of 30 acts of kindness to complete during the months of February and March. Their aim is to spread kindness in our school community, so please encourage and support them and spread kindness like confetti. It would be great to see more action teams being set up based on your interests or passions, but please remember that you must have a staff member that is just as passionate as you and is willing to support you when necessary. Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and attended the movie night in January. We raised £226.25 for school funds. There will be one more movie night in March. Some healthy options for lunchtime. Eco Council

Here at MJS, the Eco council and monitors have been making sure everyone rescale. We are planning to make a mosaic using the lids we have collected because you cannot rescale the lids for plastic bottles. The Eco monitors have been weighing the green bin (rescaling) and the black bin (waste) for every class, everyday in the afternoon and record it on a piece of paper. After two of the Eco council have collect the paper and then record it, we then share the results with the whole school.

Junior Travel Ambassadors

Here at MJS our JTAS have been discussing as a group that a lot of parents have been leaving their engine on while dropping off their children to school, that is called idling. As JTAS we want to stop this. We have sent out a competition to our pupils about making a flyer about how we should stop idling. We want it to be beautiful and colourful and the winning flyer will be sent to all the nearest homes. Wouldn’t that be amazing! Sadly, when we did the competition we did not get enough entry’s that we wanted, so we are doing the competition again and hopefully we get a lot more entry’s this time.

Playground Pals

Last term the bake off was a huge hit and we raised more than £500! Thank you to all those who took

part and has helped us in our fundraising journey. We plan on holding another bake off in the future. A

few weeks ago, we arranged playground zones to prevent equipment becoming

damaged. So far, this has been successful however

we are still looking at improving our playground. We

are now focusing on holding competitions and teaching

children some new games in the playground.

Competitions may include: table tennis, obstacle

course and double skipping and will be held once a

week with house point rewards. We look forward to

more fun in the playground in the next term!
