Fifth Sunday of Lent

I am the resurrection and the life, says the Lord;

Whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will never die.

Today’s Readings:

1st Reading—Ezekiel 37:12-14| 2nd Reading—Romans 8:8-11 Gospel—John 11:1-45

0132 Sacred Heart Parish Sunday, April 2, 2017

Dear Parishioners, March 23rd was my 2 month anniversary here in and among my new parish community. I hope you know that I am deeply blessed to be sent to you as your pastor as well as inspired by the many good people that have received me, Mac and Harley (the two golden retrievers). Your prayerfulness, thoughtfulness, and selfless service in varied ways are noticeable to me, and I hope you notice it in your parish family as well. Just this past week, I had a first meeting with the existing Pastoral and Finance council members who have been serving here at Sacred Heart. Parish children received their First Penance and now others will prepare for First Holy Communion. Parishioners hosted homeless families in our parish hall and Baptism classes for parents have increased in number. The Parish Retreat team led a beautiful day for fifty people on Saturday where we reflected on being a person of prayer and meditation as the root of doing good works of love and service. The list of encounters and engagements with individuals and groups could go on. I am thankful that the council members agreed to help me in the transition months ahead. I will also meet with other people who have expressed interest in serving on the parish councils and ministry leaders as we look at the stewardship of the parish activities and temporal goods. Thanks for your attention to the orange envelopes and your generous donations to the parish hall heater expense. And yes, I will be looking into the microphone system which is important in our liturgical space for faith comes from hearing! Now I hope that we can gather as God’s family with the approaching Holy Week Triduum Days of Holy Thursday of the Lord’s Supper, Good Friday of the Passion of the Lord, and The Easter Vigil in the Holy Night and that lead into Easter Sunday. May these holy days bless our parish family during the Easter Sea-son and into the Feast of Pentecost Sunday: The Birthday of the Church! On Pentecost we will also be having a Ministry Fair sign up Sunday so we can keep building a vibrant and vital parish community to-gether. A sample ministry list will be provided in the upcoming weeks. Peace and prayers, and Gratitude Father Mike

The No-vena is prayed daily from Good Friday through Divine Mercy Sunday. We will have special prayer service concluding the Chaplet Novena on Sunday the 23rd at 4pm. As Jesus told Sister Faustina, “I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those souls who trust in my Mercy.”

Sacred Heart School News

Our eighth grade students have been hard at work planning for their class service project, the Ware prom. The residents at Ware Presbyterian Village are invited to join our eighth graders for a fun evening of dancing and dessert. The prom will take place on Friday, April 28th with the theme, The Glamour Days of Stage and Screen. Our girls will be helping the residents “primp” in the afternoon and then joining our boys as hosts for the evening. The students have designed invitations and posters. They will also

be making favors for all of the guests and learning and practicing dances during their gym class over the next few weeks in preparation for the evening.

Sacred Heart School is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is now accepting applications for the 2017-18 school year. We provide a quality Catholic education enhanced with the latest technology,

fine arts and foreign language program. We have limited space in some classrooms. Please contact our Development Director, Jennifer Whelan, at [email protected] or 610-932-3633 for additional information or to schedule a tour.
