Please pray for those in our community who are sick:

and for those who have gone to be with
the Lord; especially:
Domenico Casula, Paula McParland,
Lawrence Shaw, Gabriel Ramirez
and for victims of recent world tragedies.
Living the Gospel by supporting those with disabilities
Ben, a 66-year-old with a developmental disability, lives
with his 90-year-old mother. Without any other family,
she didn't have a plan to take care of him after she no
longer was able to do so. She turned to Mary Centre, a
ShareLife agency, which matched Ben with a respite
worker. This worker gradually introduced Ben to
residents of one of Mary Centre's group homes. Now
that he has befriended its residents and staff, Ben will
find the eventual transition less overwhelming. He has
already developed a sense of belonging to his future community.
May 5 is Second ShareLife Sunday.
Please give generously.

Reception of the holy oils During Holy Week, the three holy oils used in the sacraments and other rituals of
the Church are blessed by the Bishop in the Cathedral at the “Chrism Mass.” A
portion of each of these oils is given to every parish.
The Church provides a ritual for the parish reception of the oils. This takes place at
parish Masses on Holy Thursday evening. The oils are brought forward along with
the bread and wine during the procession of the gifts, and they are presented one
by one.
Presenter: “The oil of the sick.”
Priest: “May the sick who are anointed with this oil experience the compassion of
Christ and his saving love in body, mind, and
soul.”
Presenter: “The oil of catechumens.”
Priest: “Through anointing with this oil may our
catechumens who are preparing to receive the
saving waters of baptism be strengthened by
Christ to resist the power of Satan and reject
evil in all its forms.”
Presenter: “The holy chrism.”
Priest: “Through anointing with this perfumed
chrism may children and adults, who are baptized and confirmed, and priests, who
are ordained, experience the gracious gift of the Holy Spirit.”
