Training Weekend - Thornthwaite / Whinlatter - Lake District

15th-17th March 2019 - Thornthwaite, Keswick, Cumbria

Following feedback from club members, we are proposing a different approach to the next training weekend. We will base ourselves in the beautiful village of Thornwaite, below Whinlatter Forest, close to Bassenthwaite, Braithwaite and Keswick.

Thornwaite is a great location with great access in Whinlatter Forest where there is a parkrun and also trail and fell running all around. It would be brilliant to have a big showing for the parkrun and this would be one of the weekend sessions. Otherwise, training is really flexible, as people feel, and there is also the option of road and mountain biking in the area.

Accommodation is the big difference. We aim to use Lanefoot Farm as our base. It is a working farm where there are a number of different options, including cottage/studio accommodation, camping, glamping and plenty of space for campervans and caravans, as I know there are many campervan owners within the club. In addition, there is plenty of B&B and Hotel accommodation in Braithwaite or Thornwaite. This gives us all the flexibility to choose our preferred accommodation We want to be inclusive, so bring partners and families

A group meal on the Saturday night would be a great chance for us all to get together. In terms of timing, it provides perfect preparation if you are getting ready for a spring marathon or just sharpening up for summer.
