Dear Sisters & Brothers in the Lord, Welcome! Thanks for joining the Sacred Heart worshiping community as we celebrate our Eucharistic Liturgy for the Third Sunday of Advent. We are blessed through your presence
and prayerful participation. May the words of Sacred Scripture enlighten your mind and the Bread of Life nourish your faith. Short Advent brings busy days!!! Many thanks to all who participated in our annual Baby’s First Christmas. Your generous donation of baby items will surely brighten the lives of young mothers and their children. Hope you can join us on Sunday at 4:00pm in Church for a “A Christmas Celebration of Love.” Our Adult Choir, Handbell Choir and School Choir will lift your spirit with the “sounds of the season.” Gift yourself with a peaceful hour in a sacred place, listening to sacred music. On Thursday evening, join us for our Advent Penance Service at 7:00pm in Church. In this Advent time of preparation, the Sacrament of Reconciliation enables us to be ready for the coming of Christ. Check today’s bulletin for other opportunities to experience the mercy of God. In today’s Gospel, John the Baptist testifies “to the light.” John is not the light. “I am not the Christ,” says John. Nor is John “Elijah” or the “Prophet.” John comes as a “voice of one crying out in the desert.” John is to point out the “light;” he gives testimony that Jesus is the Christ, the “Light.” We, too, are to give testimony that Jesus is the Christ. Through our lives of witnessing to Jesus’
Gospel of Love and mercy we testify, we lead others to Christ. Like John the Baptist we “testify to the Light.” Peace be with you! God bless,
Fr. McKee
P.S. Monday, January 1, the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, is not a holy day of obligation this year. We will keep to our schedule - Mass will not be celebrated on Monday, January 1
