Game Day Information Triple-A Affiliate of the Oakland Athletics SACRAMENTO RIVER CATS River Cats Media Relations • 400 Ballpark Drive • West Sacramento, CA 95691 • P: (916) 376-4700 • F: (916) 376-4727 River Cats All-Stars: River Cats relief pitcher Willie Eyre, catcher Anthony Recker and shortstop Eric Sogard have been selected to represent Sacramento at the 2011 Triple-A All-Star Game on July 13 at Spring Mobile Ballpark (Salt Lake City, Utah), Team and League officials announced. Thirteen players were elected to the squad by the balloting of the club’s field managers and general managers, members of the media, and online fan voting, while 17 were selected by the Pacific Coast League (PCL) office. The Triple-A All-Star Game pits the top prospects of the PCL against the best young stars of the International League (IL). This year’s game is the 24th year of the Triple-A tradition. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. with the game televised live on MLB Network. Rehab for Ross: Right-handed pitcher Tyson Ross will be pitching his first rehab game tonight for Sac- ramento. He injured his right oblique after pitching against the Minnesota Twins on May 19. The pitcher holds a 3-3 record with a 2.75 ERA in nine starts for the A’s. Ross was called up before River Cats Opening Day this season after splitting 2010 between Oakland and Sacramento. In 2010 with Sacramento, Ross posted a 2-1 record and 3.55 ERA. He never pitched past the fifth inning in his six starts. Class in session: River Cats starting pitcher Yadel Marti, or the “Cuban Professor” as he is known by Sacramento broadcaster Johnny Doskow, is scheduled to pitch after Tyson Ross tonight. Marti has been stellar this season, leading the River Cats with five wins, and 14 games started. In his last outing against Tucson, he pitched through 7.0 innings and allowed just one earned run, striking out two. He has earned the win in three of his last four starts and has only dropped one game this season. Thirsty for wins: The River Cats have a winning record (9-3) this season on Thursdays. The team has a 5-2 record at home on Miller Lite Thirsty Thursdays. Sacramento is 4-1 on the road on Thursdays. Rough patch: The Sacramento pitching staff has faltered of late after leading the Pacific Coast League in ERA for much of the season. The River Cats have given up 37 runs in their last five games, raising the team ERA on the season to 4.10 – second to Memphis’ 3.87 mark. However, Oakland’s Triple-A affiliate is serving its purpose well, as three of the Oakland A’s five starting pitchers (Guillermo Moscoso, Josh Outman and Graham Godfrey) began the season in the minor leagues and all pitched with Sacramento this season. Southern comfort: Even with Monday’s defeat, the River Cats hold a 8.5-game over the Las Vegas 51s. The River Cats’ largest division lead of the season is 9.0 games. The River Cats will next play Las Vegas on the road in a four-game series starting July 7. The River Cats’ final homestand of the season is also against Las Vegas from August 29-September 1. Sacramento has split the first eight games against Las Vegas. Donaldson doing it all: Catcher Josh Donaldson has been doing everything for the River Cats lately. He has six home runs, 18 runs and 11 RBIs in the month of June. He also has been throwing out base runners at a rate of 40.4 percent (23-of-57). The catcher is also tied for third on the team with nine steals this season. Sunday against Reno, the catcher was ejected after Reno pitcher Barry Enright threw a pitch behind him. Before that, he hit a home run, made a diving catch on a fouled bunt and threw out two runners. Kouuuuuzmanoff: River Cats third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Monday’s loss. In Saturday night’s victory over Reno with a three-run home run and five RBIs. Saturday was his second consecutive game with a home run after hitting a grand slam in a seven-run third inning against Tucson on Friday night. It was his fourth long ball with the River Cats this season. He has 12 RBIs in his last five games. Kouzmanoff has 18 hits for the River Cats this season, 12 of which have gone for extra bases. Odds and ends: Sacramento has won 10 of its last 15 games...Sacramento has not had a losing streak longer than three this season...Sacramento’s longest winning streak is six...Sacramento is undefeated in Mon- day (5-0), Wednesday (4-0) and Saturday (4-0) road games.
