Cross indicates the person is deceased.

No cross the person is alive.

Reflection What's the best way to repair a damaged relationship? Jesus offers his disciples spiritual freedom and power for

restoring broken or injured relationships.

What can we learn from Jesus' instructions about how to mend a damaged relationship (Matthew 18:15-20)? If you feel you have been wronged by someone, Jesus says the first step is to speak directly but privately to the individual who has done the harm. One of the worst things we can do is brood over our grievance. This can poison our mind and heart and

make it more difficult to go directly to the person who caused the damage.

Lord Jesus, make me an instrument of your healing love and peace. Give me wisdom and courage to bring your healing love and saving truth to those in need of healing and restoration.

FR. TOM’S FUNERAL

Monday, August 17th was a solemn but joyous day in the history of Sacred Heart.

As Bishop Noonan said, “rejoice and be glad” Rejoice because Fr. Tom came into our lives and parish. He profoundly loved both. Rejoice because God saw fit to bring him home and be with Him in Heaven. We are sad because we lost his physical presence. However, the memories remain of all that he has done for us not only in the visual, physical sense but more importantly the spiritual growth and awareness he inspired by his faith. Deacon Lou said that Fr. Tom was the true essence of what the Good Shepard stands for. He was a guardian of his flock. By his actions, God-given grace poured out to the people of this parish. He was a leader, leading by example. Through his actions and God’s grace our faith grew. Deacon Lou also said that as we look back, we will mourn his loss but rejoice in the memories of what Fr. Tom has given us. We were lucky and are grateful for the time we embraced Fr. Tom and had him in our lives.

A sincere and warm thank you to Bishop Noonan, his brothers in the Redemptorist community and all who contributed to a beautiful and prayerful funeral Mass; a Mass for the Celebration Of Life. A life well-lived with a life-long journey of faith, ever growing.

During this difficult time it is important to keep each other in our prayers for continued good health or recovery. It is also important to stay in touch with each other. Even though person interaction may be limited; much goes on within our parish family. Write something up that is upbeat and informative.

Thank you and God Bless.

FAMILY VISIT A pleasant surprise for Barbara and Bill Hortsing, long

time parishioners, this past weekend.

A family visit from son Frank Duffy, serving with the

Coast Guard in Louisiana and grandson Sam Barksdale

from Jacksonville. Loved seeing son Frank and espe-

cially enjoyed his bayou crab cakes and shrimp. Grand-

son Sam helped us eat Cajun style! Lots of memories

were shared and enjoyed by all.

What a great start to a new school year! Our new pastor, Fr. Kevin McDonald, C.Ss.R. was bright and early at the arrival line on Wednesday morning, August 26th, taking temperatures and welcoming

our students and their families. Thank you, Fr. Kevin, for your blessing and presence. We are grateful.

Our beloved Fr. Aldrin Nunes, C.Ss.R. visited our school on Thursday, August 27th and gave all classes and staff a blessing. He took some time to say hello to all the teachers and students and prayed

over them, including those who were on livestream. Teachers and students always enjoy seeing and talking to Fr. Aldrin. God bless you for the work you do!

It’s time to celebrate our graduates’ accomplishments and so we found some of them and we couldn’t be

more proud of who they have become.

2010 graduate Austen Truslow graduated with a degree in Business Management from Rollins College and is playing professional golf. He has competed in-ternationally on both the Asian and European Tours. Currently, he is enjoying his rookie year on the PGA

Tour - Korn Ferry Tour.

Sacred Heart Catholic School is so proud of you, Aus-ten, who in his yearbook said, “If you can dream it,

you can do it.” You truly did! Go Eagles!

Spotlight on SVdP Volunteer

Mary Ann Vendrasco

Mary Ann is a youthful 80 years old, but looking like 60, hails from Scranton, PA and lived in New Jersey before coming to Edgewater where she has been for 24 years. Mary Anne was married 57 years to Robert, who passed to the Lord in 2017. They have a son, Bobby, who is her sunshine, and twin grandchildren. She brings considerable experience to her Telephone Team job with St. Vincent de Paul, having worked as assistant to the Director of Finance at Vineland, NJ Training Center, and for City of Edgewater for five years working on payroll, personnel and insurance as a financial services assistant. Her favorite job was raising Bobby. In re-sponse to the question, "How did you get involved with St. VdP?", she said "God kept calling me." She had confided in her husband that she "knew she was supposed to be doing something" and this was it. She gets a lot of satisfaction knowing she really helps people who need it, and related a story that she received a call from a person we served who was overwhelmed to the point of tears because we had given him a roast beef ; that he hadn't had a real roast in years. Mary Ann likes walking, swimming, cooking and gardening. Says she has geraniums popping up all over, and lots of lovely red kalanchoe.

Loving God,

Life-giving Breath of all Creation today

I thank you for the Gift of Me! I thank

you that I am alive at this moment at this

space in time in this place of history.

I thank you God for the person I am for

I thank you that in your Great Plan of Lifeyou have made me just as you wanted me

to be and placed me just where wanted me to be.
