Barely a period of one year has passedsince the terrorists targeted local trains inMumbai & they chose mainly the firstclass compartments to target theintelligent & affluent class. For the pastdecade or so, India, our motherland, has toface a number of such terror attacks atvarious places & in various cities like

Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Gandhidhametc. Strictly speaking, these terror attackswere well planned by mastermindextremists & carried out by their loyal coworkers. The question then, arises as towhether astrological analysis of suchincidents would provide us any guidanceabout the planetary positions/yogas orparticular signs, constellations, planetsbeing involved in such incidents. Here onething, we must note that it is not theplanets which cause blasts but humanbeings who are the real culprits. But thetime, which provides them the base forcarrying out terror attacks, should havesome common factors. Not only this butsuch analysis will give us a guide inpredicting future probable dates of attacks.

mainly based on Five Elements ( panchmahabhutas) namely Space, Air, Fire, Water andEarth ( Aakash, Vayu, Agni, Jala, Prithvi). The bombblasts necessarily involve explosion andso here the fire element becomes more prominent. In Astrology, Moon represents public atlarge (common man) & the blasts are aimed at terrorising commoners. Many innocentmembers die in such blasts. As fire/explosion is the cause of death, the eighth house,Mrityusthan, from Ascendant/moon in the chart drawn at the time of blast incident shouldhave some relation to fire element (as it creates fire/blast).

The following are the parameters adopted for this research.1. Fiery planet (Sun or Mars) in the eighth house,2. Fiery signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) in the eighth house,3. The lord of the eighth house in fiery signs or himself of fire element,4. The eighth house or its lord afflicted by fiery planets.

Secondly chart based on Moon is more important, because

1. Moon represents the Masses which is mainly involved in these blasts.2. Out of the injured persons, some die on the spot, some after passage of time. So,although the exact time of blast is not less important, still study of Rasi Chart basedon Moon will give a more representative model of time.

3. Yet another factor is that the masterminds, who plan & carry out such terror attacks,act ruthlessly. This again points out to another astrological phenomenon mind (Manasa) governed by Moon & the head ( Buddhi) governed by Mercury. So afflictedMoon &/or Mercury that turns human beings into mindless daredevils must governthe situation, which prompts such ruthless behaviour.

So the study of terror strikes should lead us to some conclusions regarding moon, mercury &the fire elements involved. Let us examine some horoscopes of such bomb blast dates visavis to the parameters propounded above.

For theduration of these serial blasts, fiery sign Sagittarius was rising in the ascendant.

around 17 per day. i.e. very low pace.2. Relation of fire element with eighth house from Moon (in 90% cases)3. Major planets disposition in kroor constellations like Jyestha, Krittika, Aslesha,

Vishaka, Makha was there in 13 cases accounting for 62% of total Blasts.4. Saturn Mars, Jupiter Mars etc. in mutual kendras was observed in many cases.5. Lastly, the daily movement of Moon at higher (14 0 or more) or lower (less than 12 0 per

day) speed was observed in six cases.So in future during the period of combust / retrograde Mercury, the particular day, on whichextra caution should be taken, is guided by the daily slower / faster movement of Moon.

This article was 1 st penned in the first week of September 2007 and since then in the last 9months, a number of incidents of bomb blasts have occurred at various places all over theworld, the latest being on 7 th July 2008 at 8.30 am near Indian embassy in Kabul after thisarticle was submitted to Saptarishis Astrology.

Such zones onlyindicate the higher probability of accidents taking place in such zones. It does not imply thatevery vehicle passing through that zone meets with an accident nor does it imply thataccidents will occur only in that zone & nowhere else on that road. Similarly above dates areindicative of high probability of blasts on these days. If on any of these days, concernedpersons take due care beforehand and avoid the tragedy, purpose of this study will be served.Yet another question, often raised by opponents of astrology is that whether those, who dieat a time in a particular blast, belong to same rasi. If not, then how astrology can be called ascience. This is a separate subject to be discussed in a separate full article.

Special Note: The article, originally written in September 07, was supplemented in the second week

of July 08, with the analysis of 8 blasts between Sept 07 & July 08. Further on the suggestionof the editorial board of Saptarishis Astrology, some probable dates of future blasts werepredicted on the basis of mainly Retrograde and/or Combust Mercury. For predicting exact

dates during such period of affected Mercury, the slower/faster pace of Moon along withMarsMoon, MarsSaturn relations was taken into account. Unfortunately, before the articleis published, a number of systematically planned blasts happened on 25 th , 26th July 08. Theseblasts tally with the hypothesis of our prediction.

As per TOI news report, there were 3 major terror attacks one in Istanbul (17 dead, 150 injured), secondin Baghdad & third in Kirkuk (totally 70 dead, 300 injured) on 28 th July 08. Additionally in the probabledates the author has mentioned rail road accidents also as one of the causes with the date of 1 st Aug 2008,you can see that on 1 st Aug 2008, around 32 people were killed when flames engulfed five coaches of theSecunderabadKakinada Gautami Express train at 1.10 a.m. on Friday near Kesamudram railway station,about 70 km from Warangal, India. On 10 th Aug blasts in Bahghad happened as per Mr. Deos prediction,on 9th Aug dated outlined by him there was news of 2000 people dead in dispute of Georgia & Russia.

The first incident of blasts was in Bangalore (12N58, 77E35) on 25 th July 08 between 1.40 p.m.& 2.15 p.m. The ascendant shifted from Libra 27 to Scorpio 6. The planetary position wasas follows: Sun Cancer 9, Moon Ashwini 1 st & 2nd Pada, Mars Leo 20 20, Mercury (C)Cancer 4, Jupiter (R) Sagittarius 21, Venus Cancer 21, Rahu Capricorn 25 & Ketu Cancer25. The concluding parameters in our article which are applicable to these blasts are: 1.Combust Mercury, 2.Scorpio, the eighth house from Aries Moon, afflicted by fiery Mars,3.Saturn in Makha, Venus & Ketu in Aslesha, and 4.SaturnMars together in fiery Leo.

The second series of blasts happened inAhmadabad on the next day 26 th July 08between 6.45 p.m. & 9.30 p.m. Here also theascendant moved from Capricorn 0 toAquarius 19. The planetary position was asfollows: Sun Cancer 10, Moon in Bharani 2 nd

& 3rd Pada, Mars Leo 21, Mercury (C) Cancer6, Jupiter (R) Sagittarius 21, Venus Cancer23, Saturn Leo 13, Rahu Capricorn 25, Ketu

Cancer 25. All the parameters mentionedabove are applicable here also. Moon was stillin Aries.Yet the additional important factor, which isdifferent in this case, is that Mars, the fieryplanet, was situated in the eighth house fromthe ascendant, Capricorn, and that too in fieryLeo. Further the eighth lord is also the fierySun. Even in the case of Aquarius ascendant,the eighth lord, Mercury, is with fiery Sun.

Yet another factor is the faster pace of Moon(14 11) on 26th as compared to 13 55 on 25th .In Ahmadabad, causalities were quite high ascompared to those in Bangalore. Thedifference is fully explained by this last noted

point, proving our parameters of fiery relationwith eighth house & pace of moon true.Here we admit the fact that these 2 dates werenot predicted by us. It is difficult to describe a legend like Mr. Patel. Some called him Chandu Kaka, some calledhim Chandubhai, some Scholars Astrologer but we all miss him deeply now that he is nomore. Though I was the envy of many publishers that our publishing house could release thebooks of Mr. Patel and thousands of astrologers have enjoyed his work. But, it is with deepsadness I am remembering him although it is 1 year since his demise. The biggest debt onmy heart which would always remain is as to why fate did not allow me one more additionaldecade with this legend. If our association had started just 10 years earlier, then Sagar

Publications would have brought out atleast 1020 more books out of this Master who had somuch of knowledge that it is unimaginable. He would have reduced the gap betweenpredictions and theories which is what has been my quest via my publications. People accuseme of removing only 5 books out of Patel Saheb but one must understand that Mr. Patel wasa very senior astrologer and also very old when my association with him started. APublisher no doubt has a social responsibility to bring out the best in an author and to coaxand guide him but when you have an astrologer as senior as Mr. Patel to deal with; we haveto ensure that we do not push him beyond the social constraints that God has given theauthor.

Mr. Patel was not just an inspiration to todays astrologer & current gurus of astrologybut he was also a great inspiration to astrologers of yesteryears. It was often said that onehad to read his books thrice to grasp it, I request young students to do this. Often one wouldfind that just one shloka (verse) that he has quoted was a fullfledged technique in itself &this aspect I request students of astrology to not forget while reading his books. One has tobe almost in a meditative state to understand the depth of what he was saying and then testit aggressively for a extensive period without getting deviated by any other method, onlythen when you get the feeling of Owning the technique then the master key of thattechnique that he has written about will come to you. He was a man who had immensepatience and worked very hard on each and every verse, though it would take a long time forhim to bring out any book but everyone would be rest assured that when anything comes outof Mr. Patels stable it would be the greatest & also the rarest. He was strict but humble andhe had enough humility to admit his mistakes, this is a rare quality in an astrologer that theyounger generation should learn from.

Nostalgia

In 1990 I was introduced to him and I met him only twice in my life and rest of the period itwas via telephone or the good offices of Bhushanji. He was vary of publishers & thepublishing industry as he had been duped by friends and other fellow astrologers. This was asad part as we must not stop genuine astrologers from contributing to the science, but theworld is selfish. It almost took him 6 months to agree to write for me & I must admit that ithas been an honor and pleasure for me to publish his books.

When I met him he assured me 2things which he was unable to do it for me.First was a horary material (not PrashnaMarga), he said this technique was rare &miraculous as compared to the normalsystem of horary that we follow, butincidentally he never could get down towriting it. The other topic he was to writeon was on Chandra Kala Nadi of which hewas acknowledged as a master even before Imet him. His classes of Chandra Kala Nadiwas famous from the 1960s when greatmasters like even Narendra Desai, RamanThakkar used to come and learn from himevery Sunday, so I expected a lot from himin terms of contribution to understandingthis rare text called Deva Kerelam, thegreatness of it you can see from my earlierpublication on the same. Though I amselfish that knowledge should come out inthe open to further this science but at thesame time I do remember that he wasalready in his 80s when I met him and forsomeone to work so hard till his age of 92 isnot known, infact Sagar Publications might

be proud to say that he was probably theonly Jyotish author in the world who wasstill writing at the age of 92 inspite of facingso many hardships.

Speaking of writing, well he was writing thebook on Retrogression for us, it is one of thetoughest topics in astrology and often calleda googly. Normally writers will desist fromwriting on retrogression. This work remains

unfinished and I expect his student whoworked on it with him to complete it inwhatever form we can cull out to the world.I also expect his students to come out withmore books on some of the things theylearnt from their Late Master.

Contribution

I am not competent enough to talk about his

greatness but people who have read hisbooks, have come to me over the years andgiven genuine feedback that if his techniquesare applied with honesty and devotion thenthey are absolutely matchless. People

especially comment on his pricelesscontribution to the field of Ashtakvarga,Navamsa and Nadi Astrology. Hisashtakvarga system of using theAshtakvarga in Navamsa (D9) has been sohighly praised to me that Sagar Publicationsfeels very content that we were a vehicle forit.

He will beremembered asone of the firstastrologers towork onShastiamsa(D60) & also on

Nadiamsas (LateC.G.Rajan also didgenuine work onNadiamsas). He once wrote a single line onthe 60th division and this has inspired one of my authors from U.K to write a book whichI would bring out soon. He taught somesecrets of Shastiamsas in 1970s to his studentthe Late Surendra Bhagat who later didfurther work on Shastiamsas & produced amanuscript. Unfortunately that work is nowlost & also Patel Saheb is no more. Hiscontribution will be unmatched forever &We shall be never able to repay this debt.

Currently many newwebsites offering pet horoscopes arespreading across the net, some exhibitingwith the same reverential treatment theZoroastrians displayed in their detailedobservance of how it's best to always givethe last morsel on your plate to your dog,

and what is the best method of dealingwith a pregnant female delivering herbreed. Few astrologers give a detailedanalysis of a dog's chart, so it seems now isthe right time to see if astrology can bemeaningful in helping us understand ourbest friend better with the aid of astrology.

I have already described how popular he is in the neighbourhood and well known, but thefact he is featured in this online magazine also confirms that he has the ability to rise abovethe run of the mill dog on every street corner. Poor Max is now exhibiting signs of clear distressand hesitates before walking past our property, so afraid is he of Tsange.This little terrieristcan easily indulge in the 'conquering of foes' as he demonstrated one day whilst I was outgardening, and Tsange was having a sun bathe and Big Max was walking past. Tsange wokeup with a startle and racing out of the garden in a frenzy he attacked Big Max, (who is fourtimes his size I might add) who responded with a soft wuff, retaliated and ended up gouginga blood vessel in Tsanges left eye. Not to be beaten, Tsange carried on barking but realisedhe was injured so responded to my calls to stop and return home with me, giving Big Max awarning growl and woof before doing so of course.

Ever since then, poor Max, in spite of injuring Tsange more than Tsange hurt him, is nowterrified of being attacked again, so walks past meekly hoping to never encounter the little'terrierist' again.

On this occasion something unusualhappened which neither he nor I wasquite prepared for. During our strollhe spotted a young brown rabbitwhich was innocently hoppingaround and immediately gave chase,except on this occasion there wereno bushes for the rabbit to turn into, so it ended up in Tsange's mouth. Would this terrieristcommit murder and give the final bite? All this happened in a flash but accompanied by myscreams to 'Stop! No! Stop ! Sit!' ..... He always obeys the sit command. Thank goodness!

I arrived breathless at the scene of the crime wondering whether the poor tiny furry lumpwas alive or indeed murdered. Happily I saw a movement as it trembled with fear, about tomeet its doom, but I bent down to gently stroke it and saw only a few clumps of fur hadbeen lost, and no blood anywhere. I dragged Tsange away to watch the poor tiny creatureregain its breath and composure and run away as fast as it could, safely, towards the distanthedgerow from which it had emerged in the first place. Thankfully this yoga only gives thepossibility of committing the murder, and I had managed to step in to prevent him getting ablemished and less illustrious character.Amusingly I read (unknown source) the TrilochanaYoga obtained when Sun, Moon, Mars are in trines from each other gives:Great wealth and high intelligence is bestowed upon the person, along with long life andterror to his enemies.The fact that this description uses the word terror, and the yoga obtains in the chart of aterrier, makes me wonder if the person who established this yoga didnt also have a TibetanTerrier to observe its application and manifestation. The Vipareet Harsha Yoga (L6 in 8)also gives him the ability to defeat his enemies making him a fierce little creature indeedwhen the need arises. He will often protect me when out on a walk. If anyone comes withinmy space he will give a warning growl if he doesnt know them or feels they might threatenme in some way. Its often amusing to see how muscle bound men will soon get off the pathto make way for us, when Tsange gives his warning that he is on guard.

A Dog with Nine Lives?

do wonder if Tsange will be a dog in a future life due to Saturn, L5th and in eighth of past present and future, showing that he will continue his doggy status past, present andin a future incarnation.

He nearly lost his life recently due to some very impulsive behaviour. I had left him with aneighbour for a few days, and whilst crossing the road Tsange decided my neighbour wasgoing too slowly so he slipped the lead he was on and ran over a busy road to meet hisgirlfriend Sophie, a beautiful little Yorkshire Terrier. Of course he didnt look to see if carswere around, but no sooner had he crossed he turn back onto the road and was hit by apassing vehicle. 4th May 18:20 2005See transit Mercury is L12 in same critical degree as Lagna , and is conjunct Lagna lord Venuswith which it is conjunct natally and at the time of the accident. L12 is house of loss anddeath and I think that he was very lucky not to have been killed at this accident. Transit Moon aspects transit Venuslove and Rahu dog, so we have his mind on thedoggy love of his life Sophie. The fact that transit nodes are in opposite places to natalposition is also indicative of something major upsetting his life.

Fortunately he has survived this accident, but he does seem a little subdued and due totransit Mars aspecting second house of mouth, he sustained a cut and bruised lip. He stillbears the scar on his lower lip but his other injuries are happily healing, and he seems tohave got off very lightly with no broken bone; thank goodness.

Notice also that Jupiter is in third of neighbours, and Tsange was walking with hisneighbour at the time. Jupiter in transit is retrograde so harms the houses it owns . Retro Jupiter is harmful to sixth house of health, ruled by Piscesfeet, and also rules and occupieshouse of neighbours, third, and yes, this neighbour wasnt particularly happy with him afterhis naughty behaviour, so the neighbour was harmed very much at the time of the incident.

Sun rules eleventh natally, and at the time of the accident is in tenth from lagna. Eleventh iseighth from fourth of cars, and so due to Sun L8 from fourth aspecting fourth as well aslagnesh transit Venus, the emphasis on road accidents due to vehicle is heightened. TransitSaturn in eighth from fourth also shows a sad event and harm to feet, due to aspect on natal Jupiter with natal Saturn in house of distress from lagna.

Events and Physiology There are many other charts for incidents in his life which can be read in the same way weread a human chart and I leave you with some of them at the end of this article to enjoyanalysing for yourself. These charts are sure to be of use to many astrologers who also own

dogs, or who are given the charts of other animals to read.

A) 1 March 2004 approx 12.00 mid day Tsange is always scavenging and always picks updebris thrown down by children, especially chocolate and sweets. Sadly I cant always stop

him picking these up, and my neighbours feed him chocolate biscuits, which are veryharmful for dogs. His teeth got so bad he needed one out, and the dentist took our threefront lower teeth for reasons I shall never understand. Both Tsange and I were in mourning,all week after the extractions, and I often feel he had his lovely smile surgically removed.

He keptshowing me his teeth and I didn'tunderstand why he was always angry withme, though I hadn't had a Tibetan Terrierbefore. Thus the question arises, when it is constant for athe horoscopes, why it should be included in theshadbala?

Phases of inner planets (Mercury and Venus) are like moon. Refer to figure given below:

Figure:Sun is at the center of the orbits of the inner planet and the earth.Inner planet appears full when it isat H and circular disc is visible butit is at the maximum distance fromthe earth. It appears more than half at D and I, as more than half thebright disc is towards us. At C and J only half the lighted disc is visibleat the Earth. At B & K less thanhalf the illuminated position is

facing us, so it appears less thanhalf. At A its dark side is seen byus, so it is not visible at all, thoughit is nearest to us.

Phases Of SuperiorPlanets

The superior planets must alwaysappear either full or gibbous; for its orbit is outside orbit of the earth. It appears full atconjunction or opposition. Itsilluminated disc is always more thanhalf towards the earth. The smallestportion of the planet will be seenwhen the sun and the planets subtend a right angle at earth.

Brightness (Magnitude) of the planets The amount of reflected light received from a planet at the earth is the brightness of thePlanet / Star. This reflected light is based on based on two things:

(A) If the distance of a planet from the earth is more, light received from it will be less andthe planet becomes brighter as it reaches near the earth. Brightness of light is inverselyproportional to the square of its distance from the earth. If a source of light goes three times

away than its earlier distance, the magnitude of light will be oneninth of the original one.

When elongation angle of Venus (the angle subtendedby the sun and the Venus at the earth) is 40, thebrightness is at maximum.

(B) It depends also on the portion of the illuminated disc of the planet towards the earth.If more illuminated portion of the disc is towards earth, more light will be received on theearth.

Magnitude Of Inner Planets

We consider the case of Venus. When it is at superior conjunction, it is at maximumdistance from the earth and atinferior conjunction it is at theleast distance. Diameter of itsdisc is 11" at superiorconjunction and 66" at inferior conjunction or 6 times more than superior conjunction. Atthe time of inferior conjunction, a very small part of its illuminated disc is towards the earthor visible to the observer, while at superior conjunction the whole disc is normally visible.When elongation angle of Venus (the angle subtended by the sun and the Venus at theearth) is 40, the brightness is at maximum.

Magnitude Of Outer Planets

An outer planet at the time of opposition appears like a fullmoon. The whole disc is visible and it is nearest to the earth.

While at conjunction, though the whole disc is normally visiblebut it is at the maximum distance from the earth, its discappears smaller also. In between these two positions, atquadrature (the angle subtended by the planet and the sun at theearth is 90) it appears most gibbous.

Maximum Magnitudes Of Planets are as under:

The greater is the magnitude, lesser is the brightness. Planets with minus magnitude aremore bright than the positive ones.

In case we take Saturn as 1, Moon 42.3, Mars 9.3, Mercury 6.3, Jupiter 8.7 and Venus 14.7times brighter than Saturn. But this brightness varies as per their distance from the earth.

Take the case of Mars which looks like astar at the time it is farthest from earth.Similarly, is the case with Jupiter andSaturn. Regarding inner planets Mercuryand Venus it has been discussed earlier.

It is concluded that their luminosityvaries. Hence the natural strength needs tobe removed from the Shadbala of Grahasor another formula depending on theirangle of elongation and distance may befound out.

Thesewere written combining Persian & UrduLanguage, they contained some of thefinest secrets of astrology that were knownto Muslim astrologers of their times.

These lines are taken from an old bookwritten in 1907 in Urdu language by the

name of AlNajoom that means Theastrology 1907.

In those olden days, there were very fewbooks that were written on astrology inUrdu Language. This book AlNajoom isconsidered as a masterpiece written byMolvi Hasenuiddin . Like itscontemporaries, it is written in Persian

MahaPurusha Yoga BhangaAn Attempt

Subramanium Shastry, India Every astrologer I meet says that I have got Malavya yoga in my chart. I have read aboutthe great effects of exalted Venus in a Kendra from Ascendant. Is this the Malavya yoga?But, sorry man, it didnt work in my chart.

The above statement was by the native of Chart 1, put to the scribe. The native is an officialworking in the Department of Revenue, GOI. Out of curiosity, the birth details were askedand promptly noted down.

The birth details of the chart 1 are December 4, 1964, Bhopal.

Pancha Maha Purusha Yogas are the combinations that produce 5 kinds of great people.They are namely, Hamsa, Ruchaka, Bhadra, Malavya and Sasa. The classical definition of Malavya yoga, one of the Pancha Mahapurusha yogas is placement of Venus in own orexalted house identical to a Kendra from Lagna or Moon. Accordingly, Hamsa, Ruchaka,Bhadra and Sasa yogas are formed by such placement of Jupiter, Mars, Mercury and Saturnrespectively.

The verses from some classics defining Maha Purusha yoga are as under:

Something important must first be mentioned, in younger years of our astrological journey,most of us ascribe great success to a native to MPY present in the chart but actually thatsuccess might be happening due to some other yoga present in the chart. Also, it is not rareto have these yogas in one chart. This point must be kept in mind before we venture intotesting this proposed theory of MPY cancellation presented in this paper.

The classical definition of Malavya yoga is satisfied in Chart 1 by the placement of Venus inLagna as Lagna Lord. Venus dasa is running presently (at the time of writing) from 1988 January to 2008 January: Maha Dasas: Merc: 19640124 19810123/Ket: 19810123 19880124Ven: 19880124 20080124

According to native, the Venus dasa is going normal, nothing extraordinary. Usually, theyoga giving planets give the results in their Mahadashas and Antardashas. Why Venus, inown house, didnt give any results? Aspected by Jupiter, bitter enemy of Venus?

Though there was no prediction given to the native, the question of how the Malavya yogabecame defunct was remained unanswered till a verse came across during the cursoryreading of Chandrakalanadi or Devakeralam. The verse referred, in ChandrakalaNadiDevakeralam (Vo. II, Part I, Page 5 and verse 26) describing Malavya yoga and its results.The next verse i.e., 27 reads as under:

jve aniyute de mavyoa bhagavn | bhguruccaphala vyarthaghaccidrea karita || If Jupiter is conjoined with or aspected by Saturn, Malavya yoga, mahapurusha yoga generated byVenus is cancelled. The good results of exalted Venus does not materialize and the native is troubledby the blemish

The same verse is repeated in the Kerala Nadi by Mysore University with the addition of one more condition:

jve aniyute de mavyoga bhagavn | ukre ketuyute cettu mavyoga bhagavn || If Jupiter is conjoined with or aspected by Saturn and Venus is with Ketu, malavya yoga iscancelled

Sri C.S.Patel2 , while giving out the combination, gave the reason as ...Probably, the

association or aspect of Saturn over Jupiter or conjunction of Ketu with the yoga producingplanet stunts the growth of beneficial results, in spite of MPY. This gives a clue as to whyMPY, sometimes, do not give prescribed results in some natives.

This combination is present in Chart 1. At last, one reason is here for the nonfunctionalityof Malavya yoga! But applying this rule common to all the MPYs as suggested by ShriC.S.Patel was another question. Mr Patels explanation has been discussed over the years bymany & experienced of us knows his explanation does not work in toto on all charts where

MPY is present but not working. The verse was duly noted down and was discussed formuch time with our editor over the years. But no hints came up except another verse wasgiven in the 13 th Chapter of Manasagari while discussing yogas which is reproduced inDevanagari here:

kendroccag yadyapi bhsutdy mrtta tuyut bhavanti |

kurvantinorvpatimtmapke yacantite kevala satphalni || Manasagari 3 Chap. 13 Verse 9.

The gist of above verse translated is The conjunction of yogagiving planets with Sun orMoon leads to cancellation of such yogas, due to which, only ordinary good results be

expected in such planets dasas or antardasas. The combination was tested in some chartsbut the result was not so convincing.

The shloka in Devakeralam was always there in the mind, waiting to be deciphered. Andone day, suddenly the interrelation between the three VenusJupiterSaturn was*flashed* in the mind.

If the above Devakeralam verse be carefully analysed, it can be seen that Jupiter is the lord ofexaltation sign of Venus while Saturn is the lord of debilitation sign of Jupiter.It was inferred fromthis point that

1) If the lord of exalted sign of a yogaproducing planet is conjoined or aspected by itsneechasign lord, the effects of the yogaproducing planet stands nullified .

OR/AND2) If the yogaproducing planet is conjoined with Ketu, the effects are nullified.

Note: The cancellation occurs only if the neecha sign lord is aspecting the uccha signlord, not theother way round. Eg., Saturns aspect on Jupiter will cancel the Malavya yoga not Jupiters aspect onSaturn

This theory was tested in some horoscopes for each yogaplanet separately. Initially, thesecond condition viz., conjunction of Ketu was not taken but afterwards, it was used as anadditional confirmation of cancellation. Something important must first be mentioned, inyounger years of our experience most of us ascribe great success to a native to MPY presentin the chart but actually that success might be happening due to some other yoga present in

the chart. This point must be kept in mind before we venture into testing this proposedtheory of MPY cancellation presented in this paper.As a starter, the charts are given for each Mahapurusha Yoga (MPY) in which cancellationoccurs as per the theory.

Chart 1: Malavya Yoga The details of chart1 are given, in which the conditionfor cancellation of Malavya yoga clearly seen and the effectwas more visible than any other chart. The interestingpoint is the planetary conjunction or aspect of Sat over Jupiteris repeating in D1, D9 and D10 though in D9, there is noMalavya yoga from Lagna. Here hamsa yoga which is by Jupiter, now take its exalted Rasi that is Cancer so its LordMoon becomes B & its (moon i.e. B) debilitation sign becomes Scorpio who lord becomesMars. Then we see that Mars is aspecting Moon satisfying the condition given by ourpostulation & thereby cancelling (bhanga) the Hamsa Mahapurusha Yoga of Jupiter.

Chart 3 Bhadra Yoga cancelled. This chart is of a Bank employee who was recently promoted as Manager. Mercurysplacement in Virgo, the 7 th house was not so exciting. Of course, he was promoted as

Manager during the fag end of Mercury Dasa

Also, just out of curiosity, this principle was extended to Sun and moon and tested in somecharts, the results are very much convincing, probably a subject matter to be dealt with at a

Moon Venus Mercury Ve + Me or Me aspects Ve (just like in the case of Sa, this isimpossible except in divisional charts)

Well, referring to the rules for Saturn, youwill find that Saturn gets exalted inVenusian sign Libra and Venus getsdebilitated in Mercurys Virgo. Like that,Moon gets exalted in Taurus, anotherVenusian sign, the lord Venus getsdebilitated in Virgo. So, Moons exaltationgets cancelled by aspect/conjunction of Venus and Mercury. But, Mercury andVenus cannot aspect each other in Rasi

charts; their conjunction is the only pointthat can happen in Rasi chart which leads tocancellation of moons exaltation. The yogacan get cancelled in divisional charts byaspect/conjunction.
