Prior to his death he often spoke of how being out of the lime light was rough. In 1979 (eleven years after his retirement), Mantle told “The LA Times”: “I don’t think I’ll ever get over it. You get so used to being pampered and applauded and all of the sudden you’re in your own living room watching on TV as somebody else gets all that. I still dream almost every night that I’m trying to make a comeback, but, if I get a hit I can’t run to first base. It’s harder than…! I can see how a guy can commit suicide.” Let me use the above to illustrate another important Biblical principle. A world view lives for the “now” and for the applause of men. Mickey Mantle is but one of many who lived unto himself and the world. When his life ebbed away from him there was no repentance but an awful lot of regret. He experienced the applause of men unlike most do, but, even then he was left with a hollow life and existence. Tickets Are Still Available to the Dragon’s Game!
Saturday, June 11th at 7 PM is the date and time of the game the church family will be attending. The tickets are $12 @ except for those 18 and under (they get in free). A sign-up sheet is on the table in the foyer. Check this out and sign-up for each person you will have going to the game. Check this out in the near future!

Even as this is being prepared, preparations for this year’s VBS effort are being made. Kevin Marsh, the young man introduced to the congregation three weeks ago will be coming to help out as our “Ring
Master.” We will need all sorts of help in other areas as the time for this effort nears. In the areas of teaching, advertising, refreshments and recreation and crafts, we will be calling upon the church family to once again step forward to help out in a big way. Meanwhile, keep your eyes and ear peeled for updates about this!!
