A WORD FROM THE COMMANDER BILL MILLER SR. AMERICAN LEGION POST113 JUNE/JULY 2017 SOUND OFF I would like to give a big thank you to all our members that gave me support for this past year as Commander. I would love to give a special thanks to Royce Tyler for all the work and the help that he has done for me this year. I could not have done it without him. As being Commander for the year I did find out that I do not have any say over to Canteen or activities because Nationals American Legion does not recognize the canteen, the only person that have control over canteen is the second Vice and house manager, that makes it very hard to make changes with out getting any cooperation and I just wish other members would come to the general meetings and voice their opinion. This will be my last newsletter as Commander. I want to wish all the new upcoming Administration the best of luck and I hope they have a great year and hope that more members get involved in the general meetings THANK YOU BILL MILLER COMMANDER ***************************************************************************************************************** Most of you are familiar with me as the 2 nd Vice Commander of Post 113 for the past two years. I have worked hard to make things work better and at the same time have some fun at our Post activities. These past two years have been both challenging and very rewarding. I was nominated from the floor to run for Commander since the position was vacant and the Post needed someone to take over that responsibility. I have been congratulated by many members, friends, auxiliary and SAL members and they all seem to say Good Luck you are going to need it! We have an unusual situation at our Post in regards to membership and participation. We have a vast blend of generations, coupled with a large number of snowbirds that go back North for four to six months in the Summer. This situation puts pressure on the Post to produce enough income to repair our aging infrastructure, find enough volunteers to help during special activities and provide enough people for events that are scheduled to bring in members. We need more people at this time of year to help if they have the time. My agenda is to make sure Post 113 will remain active so we can continue to provide support and help to our Veterans and members that require our help. We must make our communities aware of our contributions and work to do more for the community needs. The more we contribute locally, the more we have a chance to recruit the people we meet to join Post 113. We need to work together to update our Post and get our members and visitors to take pride and promote our Post again. Rotonda West American Legion Post 113 success depends on active Membership, Volunteerism, and participation from Legion Members, the SAL and the Ladies Auxiliary to make The Legion Great Again! I would like to give a big thank you to all our members that gave me support for this past year as Commander.

I want to wish all the new upcoming Administration the best of luck and I hope they have a great year and hope that more members get involved in the general meetings

THANK YOU BILL MILLER COMMANDER

for the past two years. I have worked hard to make things work better and

at the same time have some fun at our Post activities. These past two years

have been both challenging and very rewarding.

I was nominated from the floor to run for Commander since the position was

vacant and the Post needed someone to take over that responsibility. I have been

congratulated by many members, friends, auxiliary and SAL members and they all

seem to say “Good Luck … you are going to need it!
