GENERAL MANAGER’S MESSAGE Dear Members, Super Bowl Sunday is here and we are ready for action, as the New England Patriots battle the Philadelphia Eagles on February 4
th. The game will be displayed on our four TV screens in the Tavern as well as a fifth TV in our Gar-
den Room. Chef Brian has a tailgate style menu, featuring, of course, hot dogs and wings as well as other goodies and beer specials, so be sure to reserve your spot early! February looks to be packed full of great events, including Down the Decades, Valentine’s Dinner, our Patriotic Brunch and, back by popular demand, Name That Tune. As if that’s not enough, our tavern has been the place to be for fun and music. I’d like to thank the many Club volunteers and committee members who have worked so hard in making Miles Grant a special place. From painting and construction projects to activities and Club events, our volunteers and committee members play a vital role in our success.
Please join me in congratulating our service staff members Brittany, Kandi, Ciara and Nacho for their gallant efforts last month, as they were first responders to an unresponsive party guest in the dining room. They responded immediately and continually with CPR and Defibrillation until help arrived. It was an act of true heroism on their part!
I continue to encourage all members to stop by my office, call or e-mail me if there is anything you would like to discuss. On behalf of Management and Staff of Miles Grant Country Club, I’d like to thank all of our members and guests for making this season such a success.
See you at the Club!
Pat Tully General Manager

PEG ANSBRO REPORTS: Our "Woods and Whites" tournament held on January 27th was a huge success. We had tennis players dressed all in white and playing with old fashioned wooden rackets. We also had croquet players dressed in white who were paired into teams. Our Tennis Association Board members and our Pro, Dave Coutts, worked hard on this event and we thank them and the many members who supported us by participating. Everyone agreed that Jim Packer's chart and organiza-tion skills added greatly to the success of the event. A BBQ followed in our dining room. Our best dressed awards went to Joan VanBramer and Dan Dooley. Our first place honors in tennis belong to Linda Cosden and Rick O'Donnell. And the mother-son team of Cynthia and Doug Systrom won the first place croquet honors! Congratulations to all! The presence of Jane and Curt Coutts and Richie Stevens added greatly to the event. And a big hand of applause to JaneAnne Smith for her efforts, dedication and devotion to making this such a fun and wonderful event! And many thanks to her Eddie for his constant support and devo-tion!
We invite all to come to see our renovated and beautiful new tennis facility. We have new planters, tables, chairs, benches, signs and even the bulletin board has been moved! We also installed a wonderful plaque to our anonymous donor. None of these changes could have been made without his/her monetary assistance. We are so grateful to this person. Please come and see the plaque dedicated to YOU!! Women's tennis is fantastic! Everyone is having fun and enjoying the company and contests with the other clubs.
PETER HAUTH REPORTS: We are almost through the first half of the season and Miles Grant Tennis B-2 league is doing well. We won our matches against Ocean Club, Stuart Yacht, Cascades and Harbour Ridge fairly easily and had a very tight match against Summerfield which we lost 5 - 6. Our final January match is against Mariner Sands and will be reported next month. With Monarch Country Club draw-ing from three neighboring clubs, they have a depth, which cannot be matched by any other club. At this time, we are in second place which makes us very happy. We won 70% of our games. We continue to have our weekly early morning tennis on Mon-days, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30 am and even this month’s cold weather did not deter us from playing!
MIKE PISANO REPORTS: The Treasure Coast Senior Men's Tennis League season has gotten off to a great start. The competition has improved quite a lot since the league began four years ago. This year our team has continued to play at a high level, winning 70% of our sets played. Through the first three weeks, we are in a close race for first place with Buttonwood Tennis Club. Week one at home was an easy victory over Monarch B. Week two was a close loss to Monarch A. Today we played at North River Shores beating them 6 sets to 2. Next Monday we will be home against Mariner Sands.

Well another month gone. Someone once told me that life was like a roll of toilet paper. The closer you get to the end, the faster it goes. I do believe that now. My tenure as your president is coming to a swift end and I clearly have mixed feelings. This month the only big thing on the calendar is the Valentine’s Scramble on February 13. We will have mulligans for $1 - one for each golfer. March is the Club Championship and the Closing Luncheon is in April. Please check the official calendar and mark these dates so you can be sure to attend. Congratulations to Jean Lee the 2018 President’s Cup Winner. Flight winners will be an-nounced next month Nice to have everyone back even if it is for such a brief time. Hit’em long and straight! And stay for lunch - that is when the real
fun begins.
