Do you think you can have that experience by staying at a hotel?
No, you don’t.

You have the same experience just by staying at the hotel.
We’re so bored!!
Everywhere, it’s same…

If you want to experience the real Japanese culture, ryokan (Japanese inn) is the best place to stay.
![Page 6: Ryokan Tokyo Project](https://reader034.fdocuments.in/reader034/viewer/2022051311/545369b6af795940458b4dc3/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Sleep in a futon on tatami-‐matted floor.
Wear traditional yukata.
Spend at a homely atrmosphere.
You’ll have lots of cultural experiences at ryokan.
![Page 7: Ryokan Tokyo Project](https://reader034.fdocuments.in/reader034/viewer/2022051311/545369b6af795940458b4dc3/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
There are lots of people who potentially want to stay at ryokan.
Top 3 foreign tourists’ interest in Japan
[1] Visit cultural and historical places.
[2] Stay at traditional accommodation.
[3] Eat Japanese food.
![Page 8: Ryokan Tokyo Project](https://reader034.fdocuments.in/reader034/viewer/2022051311/545369b6af795940458b4dc3/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Foreigners visiting Japan have been increased. It’s estimated to reach 10 million in 2013 for the first time, and it’ll reach 25 million by 2020. In addition, 60% of all visitors stay in Tokyo at least for 1 night.
![Page 9: Ryokan Tokyo Project](https://reader034.fdocuments.in/reader034/viewer/2022051311/545369b6af795940458b4dc3/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
There are in total 330 ryokans in Tokyo.
![Page 10: Ryokan Tokyo Project](https://reader034.fdocuments.in/reader034/viewer/2022051311/545369b6af795940458b4dc3/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
However, only 15 ryokans are listed on booking site.
![Page 11: Ryokan Tokyo Project](https://reader034.fdocuments.in/reader034/viewer/2022051311/545369b6af795940458b4dc3/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
So, your choice is very limited. It’s tough to find your best ryokan from only 15 choices. What’s prioritized the most is different by each person.
Your Priority -‐ Price? -‐ Location? -‐ Facilities? -‐ Atmosphere?
![Page 12: Ryokan Tokyo Project](https://reader034.fdocuments.in/reader034/viewer/2022051311/545369b6af795940458b4dc3/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
It means only 5% of all ryokans are introduced to foreign visitors. Where is the rest of 95% of all ryokans in Tokyo?
We’ll provide much information of ryokans in Tokyo!!

The number of ryokan has been decreasing.
Ryokan
Hotel
Number of accommodation in Japan
30% of ryokans have lost the last 10 years.
![Page 15: Ryokan Tokyo Project](https://reader034.fdocuments.in/reader034/viewer/2022051311/545369b6af795940458b4dc3/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
Ryokan used to be the most popular accommodation for domestic travelers. In 1980s, over 80% of rooms were reserved in average.
However, most Japanese people now prefer hotels rather than ryokans. Only about 30% of rooms are reserved currently.

[System]
Foreign tourists
Ryokan Owners
What we do is… -‐ Prepare manual -‐ Promotion -‐ Receive the reservation -‐ Contact before their arrival -‐ Manage troubles
Our Team
A lot of ryokan owners do not speak English. Also, there are a lot of owners who don’t use even email.
![Page 20: Ryokan Tokyo Project](https://reader034.fdocuments.in/reader034/viewer/2022051311/545369b6af795940458b4dc3/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
Our first ryokan partner is Ryokan Shizumasa. Now building a model by helping the ryokan. Ryokan Shizumasa has good resources. -‐ Good location (Lots of historical places and local bars) -‐ Easy access to downtown (Near Shinagawa Station) -‐ Reasonable price (US$40 per night)
