About RVR & JC College of Engineering

R.V.R.&J.C. College of Engineering (Autonomous), Guntur established in 1985 is one of the premier engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh in the self-financing category. Promoted by Nagarjuna Education Society, this is the most sought after college in the region. The institute offers seven B.Tech. degree programmes, five M. Tech. programmes, MBA and MCA. The department of Civil Engineering, established in 1985, offers B.Tech programme in Civil Engineering and M.Tech programme in Structural Engineering. The department has well experienced and committed teaching staff and highly skilled and motivated technical staff to provide quality education. Civil Engineering department is accredited and awarded ‘A’ grade for three consecutive times. The department has well established and state-of- the-art laboratories to cater to the needs of the students.

About IGS-Guntur Chapter

Inaugurated in the year 2003, IGS Guntur Chapter has been one of the most vibrant chapters of the national professional body. The chapter, which has over 700 members, has organized several conferences, seminars and work-shops, the most significant being IGC-2009.

About Indian Concerete Institute (ICI)

Indian Concrete Institute is one of the leading professional bodies in India, catering to the professional needs of individuals and organizations involved in Concrete. Being a non-profit Organization, it is dedicated to the cause of disseminating knowledge on concrete, to promote

Concrete Technology and Construction and to address the Research Needs of Concrete. ICI embraces budding civil engineers through ICI Students Chapters. The very objective of these students’ chapters is to bridge the gap between their theoretical knowledge and what is being practiced in the field. Their involvement in ICI activities help them shape themselves to face the challenges in the field, when they come out of the Institutions and enhance their Employability Quotient.

About the Workshop

Sustainability in wide sense is the ability to preserve a certain process or entity over a long period without affecting ecology and biodiversity, which leads to constructive production and environmental balance. One of the reasons for the recent infrastructure development across the country is the technological betterment of concrete production. The prime aim of a concrete technologist is to make the concrete strong and durable, like stone, with minimum effort. During the recent course of time, many trials of incorporating sustainable materials in the concrete mix are successful in order to achieve the above aim in a close reach. Flowable concrete made easier the casting of different shapes like flowers, leaves, textures, curves in high rise structures with excellent surface finish. Various chemical admixtures are invented to produce special concretes and highly viscous concrete mixes. While acknowledging the present trends in sustainability in concrete production, scope for further improvements like, controlling loss of slump/flowability for allowing delay in casting, delay in setting at higher doses of chemical admixtures, compatibility of chemical admixtures with cement, economy in production of flowable concrete is noteworthy. This workshop will provide a platform for academicians, engineers, builders and students to discuss the latest technological advances in concrete world.
