15 September 2017 RSS Gala 2017 Newsletter 1 Page 1 of 6 Raumati South School PTA proudly presents the… RSS Halloween Gala 11am - 2pm Saturday, 28 October 2017 Dust off your witch’s hat, polish your pumpkin and brush your fangs …. Last year’s Halloween Gala was such frightfully huge success we’ve decided it to it all again this year! We’ll have all your favourite stalls and activities along with some spooky surprises and prizes for the best dressed (kids and adults) so mark it on the calendar and trick or treat yourself to a great day out! Along with the awesome food court, great entertainment and an array of family friendly stalls and activities there are rumours of strange rumblings from dark corners of the general store – some say it’s the ghost of relief teachers past but regardless of what lurks inside, you’ll have to be brave to check it out! While the RSS Gala is an awesome opportunity to bring the wider school community together for a fun day, as always, there’s a serious purpose behind the frivolity – this year we’re raising funds to develop the area outside the classes on the Top Field. Having seen the awesome plans drafted by the students it became clear that we’ll need more than the seed funding set aside from last year’s gala to bring their dreams to life so we are committing the full profits from this year’s gala to the project. Thanks to the success of last year’s gala we have: • $7,000 set aside for the Top Field development • $7,000 set aside for the Bike Track development on the farm • 450 kids already benefitting from (and loving) a great new set of Chromebooks! This year’s great team working hard behind the scenes to make the gala happen are: Megan Rowe, Renata Spies, Rob Klaassen, Emma Bone, Katie Owen, Annette Connolly, Joanne Hart, Charlotte Kerrigan, Nicola Fisher, Bronwyn Mallalieu, Peter McCulloch, Stefan Knap, Charlotte Kerrigan, Marcus Hopkinson, Michelle de Vries and Emma Appleby. If you’d like to join the team and share your passion and ideas, please drop me a line or pop along to the next Gala meeting - we’d love to have you on board! Volunteer and Win! We really appreciate those who volunteer their time leading up to or on gala day and this year we’ll randomly select one lucky volunteer to win a meal for 2 at one of our great local restaurants! To get in the draw please speak to your child’s teacher to see what help they need and then complete the attached form and drop it in to the office – it’s that simple! The more volunteers we get, the more stalls and activities we can offer so please return your completed forms as soon as possible to enable us to confirm our activities!

Pizza Party on us! The class with the most volunteers (pro rata) gets a Pizza party lunch courtesy of the PTA!
So when you volunteer to help the class or elsewhere at the gala pop your child’s name and class number on the volunteer form and drop it to the office and it’ll count toward their rooms tally.
