THE SAFETY SECTION When assessing those factors that contribute to

the overall success of Fermilab's research effort, one must always be aware that, in addition to the Fer-milab community's dedication and diligence, safety plays a vital role in that success.

Fermilab operations and experiments often re-quire people to work long and sometimes unusual schedules. From time to time, we may also work alone in remote areas. Whenever you are working alone, working irregular hours, or working in a re-mote area, be sure that a co-worker, supervisor, or colleague is aware of your location and schedule.

Additionally, people who leave personal vehicles or assigned university vehicles on site while traveling should be sure to notify someone at the Lab that they are leaving the vehicle unattended. Vehicles some-times need to be moved for snow removal or parking-lot improvements. Security has a form which can be used to arrange for long-term vehicle parking while owners/drivers are on Lab business or returning to a home institution.

Thank you for your attention to these important matters. We encourage your continued diligence.
