Dear Lord,
O Lord, we come to You on this meeting in
grateful thanksgiving for the many blessings
You have showered upon us and for having
accorded us the honor and privilege to have
served this club.
You promised whenever two or more are
gathered in Your name, You will be present
among them. Come to us who are assembled

AS TIME GOES BY
You must, remember this,
A kiss is still a kiss...
A sigh is just a sigh.
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by.
And when two lovers woo,
They still say I love you,
On that you can rely.
No matter what the future brings,
As time goes by.
Moonlight and love songs never out of date.
Hearts full of passion, jealousy and hate.
Woman meets man and man must have his mate...
That, no one can deny.
It’s still the same old story,
A fight for love and glory...
A case of do or die.
The world will always welcome lovers,
As time goes by

Pres. Ner P. Laiño
Fellow Pasig Rotarians:
The candidates forum which we had last April 14, 2016 was
supposed to have been a Zone 6 affair which was conceived as
early as November or December last year but that plan failed
because of Zone 6 club presidents’ disagreements as to the time it
was supposed to be held and also on some other points brought out
in about 3 meetings regarding that plan. Nonetheless, it was
pushed through but only by our own club. Special gratitude goes,
however, to Pres. Odette and PE Mitch Ballesteros of Mutya ng
Pasig and to Pres. Rey Reyes of Pasig North for attending with
some of their members. Thanks also to PP Benny and PE Ogie for
their usual kind help.
The candidates forum was attended by Ms. Mons Romulo and
Councilor Ian Sia both of whom answered many questions from
our club members and also from the audience. The other invited
guest, congressional candidate Ricky Eusebio who is a member of
the Eusebio Pasig political family, did not attend perhaps because
of conflicting schedules and perhaps also of some other reasons
known only to himself.
I do not know what Rotary Notes will say about the result of the
candidates forum but this column thinks there was a little success
because for the first time we had thirty five (35) RC Pasig
members and more than 50 guests in attendance. Regular attendees
Rtn. Raj Cordova and Rtn. Arnel Estaniel and Director Albert
Mendiola and about four more regular attendees failed to attend
and if all of them attended then it would have been a record
breaker in terms of attendance. New Rotarian Carlo Laiño of BPI
Family Bank and BM Gerry Abejo of Security Bank also attended

not because Mons Romulo is a comadre of Gerry but because he is
a Rotarian. Thank you also Gov. Raffy, PP Bert Albano, PP Lito
Ayson, PP Totoy Bartolome, PP Toti Buhain, PP Conrad Cuesta,
PP Benny de Guzman, PP Celso Ylagan, PP Vic Aquino, PP Rel
Gomez, PP Ducky Paredes, PP Peping Mabanta, PP Vic Lim, PP
Peter Javier, PP Topax Colayco, PP Arjan Ramnani, PP Ferd

you and all those I have failed to mention are all great Rotarians
and for sure all of you will continue leading RC Pasig to be always
shining not only within District 3800 but in the whole world of
Rotary International.
The undersigned feels that Rotary Year 2016-2017 will be a much more successful year because of PE/IP Ogie’s early preparations.
He is a bright young man in his early fifty’s and he has chosen
equally bright young Rotarians in our club to help him lead the
next Rotary year. I promised him I will be very supportive of his
term and will always defend him when he is right.
Let us always move on and continue achieving our goals – helping
the community through our scholarship projects, medical missions
and all the others things we have been doing. Let us always
remember we are Rotarians and should and must always aim to be
gifts to the world.

PP Benny P. De Guzman
The meeting last week saw for the first time more guests than our
members. The majority of the guests were members of the Knights of
Columbus who were all hosted by WCP Ner. Of the Pasig club, most
noteworthy is ever reliable Rotary Club of Mutya ng Pasig with so
many members attending.
A President of a Rotary Club from our district is running for
councilor. I had to acknowledge my not knowing as PP Bobot
Guevarra of Rotary Club of Metro Pasig is running after I introduced
the son of popular actor Vic Sotto, Vico Sotto as a candidate.
Councilor Ricky Eusebio did not attend the meeting even if he was
supposed to have previously committed. The two others, Councilor
Ian Sia, a very good lawyer and two termer councilor came with his
wife, also a lawyer. While the very charming and with adequate
background in many facets of a good corporate achiever, Mons
Romulo, had a very nice presentation of what she can offer. She
immediately posted her speech in Facebook trying to cover more
grounds.
Mons’ brother is our very own Congressman Roman whose seat
Mons is trying to get. Her father, Hon. Bert Romulo, was a Past
President of the Rotary Club of Manila.
One of our earlier members, Rod T. Reyes went to the Great Beyond.
Rod excelled in most of the activities he engaged in from journalism,
to entrepreneurship, to even a semi-ambassadorial post. He was a
Press Secretary to 2 Presidents of the land.
Former member PP Joe Abejo, who had to return to his Rotary Club
of Quezon City where his son, Atty. Tim, also became President was
texting me as PDG Benny. I told him I am not Ricafort but as a
lawyer, his comment was that I am addressing you as the best
Governor Pasig never had. Mababaw but lusot, kahit halatang ayaw

umamin sa mistake. Anyway, he always brags his best years was
with us.
I pity the enthusiasm of IP Ogie as his secretary was following up on
the questionnaire he gave us. But the deadline is for today’s meeting
and as possibly the same comments of the elderlies like me, almost
uniform ang comments on overnight fellowships, and, in many club
projects. Most of us though would surely accept special assignments
every now and then. The key really is to get younger members who
can commit attendance level of at least three meetings a month. His
Board should not entertain numbers but quality recruitments. I admire
his planning session and his keen desire to make us the premiere club
we claim to be.
As a member of the groups of Rtn. Alex on transforming the country
to elect good Christian leaders, his Gabay Kristo to get good
Christian letters had produced 2 candidates for President, either Poe
or Roxas. For VP, 2 as needed, either Robredo or Paredes. But
Paredes was disqualified by Comelec, so solo si Robredo. For
senators, with a request you select at least 8, so you can still have a
personal choice of 4 to complete the 12, in alphabetical order:
Alunan, Colmenares, de Lima, Gordon, Guingona, Ople, Osmeña,
Pangilinan, Romulo, and, Villanueva.
Our Cong. Roman, surprisingly, not included in the LP slate despite
non-switching of party affiliations and making good in his Education
Committee, could not attend our meeting to give moral support for
his sister, Mons, last meeting. He was busy in the campaign trail as
his name is far from the winning list in all surveys. But our support
and going out of our way to campaign for him, plus the Gabay Kristo
ni Alex, baka miracles can happen.
Tonight is the bisperas of the grand 72nd birthday of PDG Raffy. May
surprise kaya in today’s meeting?

COUNCIL ON LEGISLATION TO MEET IN CHICAGO 10-
15 APRIL
Representatives from Rotary clubs worldwide will gather in Chicago
10-15 April to consider changes to the policies that guide Rotary
International and its member clubs.
The Council on Legislation meets every three years and is an
essential part of Rotary's governance. The representatives -- one from
each Rotary district -- review and vote on proposals that seek to
change Rotary's constitutional documents and on resolutions that
express an opinion or make a recommendation to the Rotary
International Board of Directors.
Get live updates and daily vote totals on My Rotary beginning 11
April.
Many of this year's proposed changes are designed to increase
membership by giving clubs greater flexibility in the timing and the
nature of their meetings. Other proposals would amend membership
requirements.
Over the decades, Council representatives have debated virtually
every nuance of Rotary policy and membership and attendance rules.
The five-day meeting is one of Rotary's primary agents for change,
allowing the organization to evaluate and enhance its relevance in a
rapidly changing world.
Council on Legislation
Every three years, members from Rotary districts across the globe
gather in Chicago to review and vote on proposed legislation. The
Council on Legislation is an essential part of Rotary’s governance.

JOKES FOR THE YEAR
A bookseller conducting a market survey asked a woman –
“Which book has helped you most in your life” The woman
replied – “My husbands’ cheque book!!
When you are in love, Wonders happen. But once you get married,
You wonder what happened.
Philosophy of marriage: At the beginning, every wife treats her
husband as GOD... Later somehow the letters get reversed..
Secret formula for married couples... “Love One Another” And if
it doesn’t work, bring the last word to the middle!!!
A woman finds Aladdin’s magic lamp. She starts rubbing it and a
genie appears. The woman asks the genie to grant her three
wishes.
# I want my husband to have eyes only for me and I want to be his
only love.
# When he gets up in the morning I want to be the first thing he
grabs.
# I want him to take me everywhere he goes.
The genie turned the woman into an iPhone.
