Who we are: The Edible Peace Patch Project is a not for profit organization whose mission is to address the impacts of poverty on education and diet-related health issues in Pinellas County by building and operating a model community education and development social enterprise project rooted in sustainable urban agriculture based local food system. We currently operate four schoolyard gardens in south side Title 1 elementary schools including Campbell Park Elementary, Lakewood Elementary, Maximo Elementary, Sanderlin IB World School. Build gardens. Feed bodies. Grow community. Expand minds. The Edible Peace Patch Projects gardens are organic and designed using a modified hugelkutur technique by which we build beds atop underground compost. This technique builds rich healthy soils in what is otherwise a harsh and nutrient deficient sugar sand, contributes to water retention and water conservation, and produces robust healthy plants. Sharing the garden with children in hopes of a healthier community. You can be a cornerstone to this project! We are seeking at least 20 Founders -- individuals, partners, families, foundations, businesses, and groups – each willing to contribute $5,000 toward our goal. Help us begin to address the educational challenges and diet-related health issues in our community. Help us build a model for other communities to do the same.
