DECEMBER 23, 2018
. First Reading: Micah 5:1-4a Micah speaks of the ruler who will come from Bethlehem. He discusses how the people of Israel will be saved from corruption and live in peace. Second Reading: Hebrews 10:5-10 Paul describes to the Hebrews how Jesus came into the world and offered to do God's will. We were saved through his sacrifice, the only offering sufficient for the sins of the world. Gospel: Luke 1:39-45 Mary paid a visit to Elizabeth, whose baby stirred in her womb upon hearing Mary's
greeting. Elizabeth filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb." Elizabeth was deeply overjoyed that the words God had spoken to Mary had now been fulfilled. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

WINTER MEASLES & FLU SEASON PLEASE HELP US ALL TO STAY HEALTHY
Let’s all work together to help safeguard our health and join the fight against , Gastroenteritis, stomach flu, measles, and other nasties currently plaguing the Hudson Valley region.
1) At the sign of peace, please refrain from shaking hands. Instead, feel free to make a friendly smile or gesture to your neighbor.
2) For the time begin, we will not be offering the chalice at daily mass. Receiving the host is, in fact, receiving the fullness of the Body and Blood of Christ.
3) Celebrants scrub their hands just prior to mass and Eucharistic Ministers have been asked to use hand sanitizer at Communion time.
4) Our post mass greeting with the priests and deacon outside of church will be the same kind of gesture as during the exchange of peace.
5) Everyone is asked to be careful of their personal hygiene and wash their hands frequently with soap and warm/hot water. This is especially true after shopping or being in public places. Clorox wipes are great for around the house. Use them liberally.
6) If you are not well. You are urged to stay at home and take care of your self. Get lots of rest and drink lots of nutricious fluids (wine doesn’t count!)
7) Do not hesitate to contact your family doctor or visit the ER at the hospital. Also, do not hesitate to call for an ambulance if you think you need one. It is never a bother to us responders, that’s what we train for, that’s what we volunteer for. Stay well!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ CHRISTIAN CHRISTMAS GREETINGS “Merry Christmas” “A blessed Christmas” “Happy Christmas” SECULAR GREETINGS Happy Holiday Have a great holiday, etc
For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. - Luke 2:11 On behalf of the Catholic School Region of Rockland, please accept our warm wishes for a blessed and joyful Christmas and a peace-filled New Year! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
THE CHRISTMAS SEASON OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH
The Christmas Season of the church beginson Christmas Day and continues through January 13th. Please continue to observe the spiritual nature of this holy season by maintaining your Christmas displays (indoor & outdoor) right through January 13th. Also, please keep your nativity scene or crèche in a prominent place in your homes. Don’t fall into the trap of viewing Christmas as a one day holiday. The stores may be taking down their decorations because their shopping season is over but we Christians will just be getting started with our observance and celebrations of Christmas.
+Christmas Day – December 25th +Feast of the Holy Family – December 30th +Feast of the Epiphany – January 6th +Feast of the Baptism of the Lord – Jan. 13th Ordinary Season resumes on Monday, January 14th.
