Rick has also served as Region 4 Chairman of the Cooperative Hazardous Material Enforce-ment Development organization.
PERS Instructor
C ompliance audits and enforcement ac-tivities are the principal means used to
ensure that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and the Federal Hazardous Materials Regulations are enforced. Transportation safety and security are top pri-orities within the Department of Transportation and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. And, in this new age of Homeland Security and threats of terrorism, the emphasis on enforce-ment has increased dramatically. Is your com-pany prepared? There are endless resources available for accessing information about DOT’s regulatory require-ments. The Code of Federal Regulations, Government and private web pages, consultants, and other private resources all provide a means to access compliance information, as well as the text of the regulations. The fact is, when it comes to compliance, it’s not as much the “What” … it’s the “How”. This workshop—created specifically for owners, managers, safety directors, and others responsi-ble for compliance—focuses on “How” to comply with the Federal requirements instead of simply rehashing the text of the regulations. Our goal is to help make the challenges of compliance less complicated and explain what you can expect during a compliance review. What’s more, you’ll learn how you can reduce
the likelihood of a DOT audit in the first place, and how to be fully prepared in the event one does occur. You’ll benefit from the knowledge of PERS haz-ardous materials regulatory specialists, includ-ing a former DOT motor carrier investigator with over twenty years of enforcement experience. These instructors understand the challenges and complexities of the regulations. More im-portantly, they will make sense of the regulatory
requirements and provide solutions for compliance in the real world. How prepared is the DOT in-vestigator and what are the most common motor carrier vio-lations? Our workshop answers these questions and more. We’ll identify the most common prob-lems and vulnerabilities, and ex-plain how the many regulatory
requirements relate within the context of a com-pliance review. We understand that you are busy running your business, and we know your time is ex-tremely valuable. Therein is the point and pur-pose of our Hazmat Motor Carrier Compliance Workshop. Avoid a disruption in your business. Don’t miss this cost-effective Workshop! Register early! All costs for propane industry members are paid by your PERC funds!

it’s the “How”.
