HELP US RAISE FUNDS FOR K-9 HEROES If you donate $5. 00 or more, please see Mrs. Klein for a chance to win a game of laser tag at Laser Craze! At April’s Renaissance Rally, we had some very special guest speakers: Rocklin Police Officer Zach Lewis and his K9 partner, Immo; along with Julie Baldwin, treasurer of The Foothills K9 Association. Student council is having a fundraiser this month to help raise funds for our K9 heroes. These dogs assist police officers in many ways to help them locate drugs, and assist in finding and capturing escaping criminals. Many times these dogs are putting their own lives upon the line to help our police officers.

Very little funding is set aside to cover any medical expenses incurred when these canine “officers” are shot, stabbed or injured. There is no money set aside for the continued care of retired K9s that still need medical attention due to their injuries on the job. The Foothills K9 Association has formed to assist in all of the previously mentioned areas, as well as, bullet/stab-proof vests for the dogs ($1,200.00 each); a medical emergency kit for each officer/handler, harnesses, etc. You can visit their website at: http://www.foothillsk9.org/. Please help student council raise money for these fearless heroes that help protect all of us and our families. You may send your donations to school in an envelope marked “K9 donation”. Please make your check payable to: “Foothills K- 9 Association.” Thank you for your kind generosity.
