SIZING
Pattern is meerkat size only. If you wish to make indifferent size you do the maths. I cannot find you
different sizes!
Meerkat size is 32 from top of head to tip of toes (alertstance). Pattern is made for comfort and style. I am
recommend your Robe of Burgundy is best worn aroundyour mansion as very stylish housecoat.
Now please make select your pattern pieces. I insistSergei press the pieces with a dry iron and only then do
I allow him to cut out the paper pattern pieces. Now isgood time to check for length and make any correctionsbefore placing onto your fabrics.
Simples!
HOW TO USE ROBE OF BURGUNDY TAILORINGS PATTERN
Please be reading
THE CUTTINGS OF THE CLOTH
I do not need to pre -shrink fabrics as I am 28 tall. How evers, if you do, now is time to do it.
Fold fabric double with the right sides together. Makeplacement of pattern pieces on wrong side of fabric. Please place the pattern pieces with arrow on top of
the grain line in same direction. Please follow arrowsfor correct grain line, placing end grains of grain line in
equal distance from the selvedge.
Simples! (Maybe not so simples, but Sergei know how
to do this bit.)Hold pattern pieces in place with pins or weights.
(Aleksandr tailorings tip: I use Granddad Vitalys warmedals they are very heavy). Cut out pattern pieces
using antique scissors or if you have to a rotary cuttingdevice never use your teeth.
Now, before you remove pattern pieces, transfer allconstruction lines, dots, and notches to fabric.
Aleksandrs Tailorings tip:
Sergei tells me the easiest way to mark notches, centre
front, centre back and fold lines is to take tiny clipson the seam allowances. Or, mark with chalk or water
washables pen. If marking is needed on right side offabric, mark with pins.
PRESSING
At this point Sergei glasses always get steamed up.Is very funny.
Steam press each seam as sewn. Please make pressingof the seams to one side, unless otherwise instructed.Remember to clip seam allowances so seams are flat.Sergei always forget, or maybe he cant see so well?
Aleksandr tailorings tip:
I insist Sergei uses original Iron Block Iron for all mypressings. Just a little starch. Not too much. Sergei isstiff enough already. Is little tailorings joke for you.
THE PATTERN
From Sergeis P.D.F. print out the 12 page pattern atsame size (100%) on to A4 paper. Then cut it out to
the black box if you are cutting on the floorbe careful not to cut your deep pile carpet.
Then you stick it all together 1A >goes next to < 1A.It should look exactly like this perfect one I make.
SEAM ALLOWANCES
We all make allowances. Great Granddaddy Vitalymake allowances of 6mm for all seams, unless otherwise
specified. I seem no reason to deviate from this path.
