The Communication Connection
Why does communication about RCIA matter to the rest of the Parish? After all if the Candidate, Sponsors, Godparents and Father Rick know what’s going on isn’t that enough?
According to the RICA (paragraph 9) “…the people of God, as represented by the local Church, should
understand and show by their concern that the initiation of adults is the responsibility of all the baptised. Therefore the community must always be fully prepared in the pursuit of its apostolic vocation to give help
to those who are searching for Christ”
One way to help the Parish fulfill its RCIA role, is to enable everyone in the parish to be aware of what is happening in the RCIA process. For example, which Mass should everyone be attend to participate in the
celebration of a Rite?
There are currently three ways to communicate to the Parish: Mass PowerPoint, the Bulletin and the RCIA bulletin board. If you would be interested in helping to reach the Parishioners of Resurrection then perhaps
one or more of these opportunities would be of interest to you.
Mass PowerPoint – work with the Office staff to prepare PowerPoint slide(s) which alert parishioners to RCIA opportunities and upcoming events. Bulletin – prepare RCIA Corner for the weekly bulletin, letting the Parishioners know what’s happening in RCIA. Bulletin Board – communicate about opportunities for Parish participation, introduce the Candidates and let the Parish know what’s happening in RCIA.
As part of the RCIA team you will be given the information you need to communicate and the freedom to employ your creativity to decide how the information is delivered.

RCIACORNER
June 30th, 2020 FINANCIAL UPDATE
June Year-to-Date Financial Results - Operations: • June year-to-date financial results still reflect a Surplus of $84,621 • This positive news is attributed to the following factors:
o Revenues: The tremendous start to 2020, which included the Fundraising Dinner & Dance in February; Your continued generosity, when Masses were suspended and your ongoing support with the
gradual reopening of Masses. A wage subsidy, offered by the Government of Canada as a result of the Covid19 Pandemic.
o Expenses: Prudent cost management, with overall year-to-date 2020 Expenses being 12.8% ($61,721)
lower than planned.
• A closer look at Mass Collections and Donations: o Year-to-date Mass Collections are lower than planned by approximately $113,057. This is attributed
to the suspension of public Masses March 22, due to the Covid19 Pandemic. We are now seeing a slight increase in Mass Collections with the increase in allowable numbers able to attend Mass. However, since the suspension of public Masses, Mass Collections only included amounts provided through Pre-Authorized Giving. All other contributions received, since that point, are recorded in the Donations category.
o Year-to-Date Donations are now trending higher than planned by approximately $28,446. This category has usually only included Donations not connected to Masses, however, this category now includes some contributions by parishioners that would have typically contributed at Sunday Masses.
Debt: Remaining debt at June 30th is: $1,204,685.
Thank you for your continued support and generosity, it is greatly appreciated! We continue to pray for you and your families that you have enriching family time and enjoyable
summer vacations while staying safe and healthy.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Dear Parents of the Ukrainian Program
As we begin to plan for re‐entry into our schools for September, we need to make some decisions
around the delivery of the Ukrainian program.
Given the Chief Medical Officer’s guidelines, we will not be providing transportation for students to take
part in additional programs during the school day. This means your child will not be transported from
their home school to St. Matthew for Ukrainian classes. This also means that we will not be able to
establish a safe delivery model in their home school during the regular school day.
In consultation with our two Ukrainian teachers, Mrs. Kohuch and Mrs. Zwarych and working within the
parameters of the Chief Medical Officer’s guidelines and Regina Catholic School guidelines, we have
come up with the following delivery option. The program will have a two‐prong approach to delivery,
online instruction and information as well as face‐to‐face instruction. The program will run on
Wednesday and Thursday evenings at St. Matthew School.
Wednesday – 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Thursday ‐ 6 – 8 p.m.
We are allowing parents to bring their children on either of those evenings. Grades 1‐4 will be with Mrs.
Kohuch and grades 5‐8 will be with Mrs. Zwarych. We are trying to be as flexible as we can with our
delivery model during these unprecedented times. Every Monday there will be an online component
sent to the parents for the students to work through, this would take the form of lesson plans, songs,
poems, prayers and websites. This can be accessed when it best suits the family’s schedule.
The student’s health and safety is paramount to us and we will ensure that all sanitization protocols set
out by the Chief Medical Officer as well as Regina Catholic Schools will be followed to the letter.
We are looking for your commitment to this new delivery model so that the Ukrainian Program can
continue during this time of uncertainty. We recognize that the situation is fluid as we move forward
with re‐entry into our schools. Please contact Susan Kohuch with your commitment. We look forward to
seeing your children in the fall and the continuation of Ukrainian Program. Stay safe and have a
wonderful summer holiday.
Yours in Christ
Susan Kohuch/ Oksanna Zwarych
