Principal’s report
A fabulous Spring Fair
Our annual Spring Fair was a great success on Friday. Thank you to all of our families who came along to support this event. The weather was perfect and everyone had a wonderful time. A huge thank you to the tireless workers on our P&C committee who spent many hours organising in the lead up, and helping out on the day. A special thank you also to the many local businesses who supported us through donations towards our raffle, silent auction and chocolate wheel.
Musica Viva
Last Thursday the children were thoroughly entertained by another Musica Viva performance – “Boom, Crash, Create.” These talented musicians provided a fun and informative session which exposed our children to many new instruments and the amazing rhythms which they create.
Lilly-May, Ellie, Kacie, Ashley and Ben getting into the groove!
Riverina Cricket Championships
On Monday 5 November four of our Year 6 girls – Isabella McGrath, Laura Smith, Madison Harpley and Isabel O’Rafferty - head off to Lismore to represent as part of the Riverina PSSA Girls Cricket team. The girls, along with two students from Junee Public were selected earlier this year and have spent many hours training. The girls and their families have also been industrious in organising a raffle to assist with the costs involved. Tickets are on sale at various locations around town – please support them by buying a ticket or three! We wish the girls every success and know they will represent Junee North admirably.
Craft Award winners
Thank you to Mrs Liz Evers who visited classes during Term 3 to conduct some fun craft sessions. The craft works were entered into a competition along with that from Junee Public School and judged by members of the View Club. Congratulations to our 3 winners: Dylan Crowley, Callum McCarthy and Johanna Evans.

Junee Show
Don’t forget that the Junee Show is on this Saturday – once again we will have some fabulous art work on display from all of our students. Make sure you go along and check it out.
Mathematics Success
Several of our students competed in the University of NSW Mathematics competition last term. Special mention to Grace Flagg, Tahlia White (Year 2 but competed in the Year 3 competition!), Luke Davis and William White who each received a Credit award. Huge congratulations to Jordan Hawke who was awarded a Distinction – well done!

SRC Fundraiser
A reminder that this Friday our Student Representative Council will hold a combined Bandana Day & Red Day for Daniel. Bandanas have been on sale during the week for $4, with proceeds going towards the Cancer Foundation – bandanas may be worn on Friday. Children are also being asked to wear red on Friday and bring along a gold coin donation. Proceeds from this will go towards the Daniel Morcombe Foundation – set up to raise awareness in children about their personal safety – this is a key message taught in our Child Protection lessons each year. There will be decorated biscuits on sale on Friday also for 50c as an extra fundraiser.
Smoking near school grounds
Recently we have discovered several cigarette butts which have blown into the playground and entry to our school. Parents are asked to ensure that any smoking is done across the road from our school, or preferably not within the vicinity of our school at all.
Surveys
Several families will receive a variety of surveys today. I would appreciate your assistance in completing these and returning them by next Friday if possible. We certainly value the opinions of our parents and will use the feedback to assist in our future planning. Copies of the surveys have been put onto our website for any other interested parents to complete.
Kinder kids visiting
This week we welcomed our 2013 Kindergarten children for the first of their 3 orientation visits. All certainly made themselves very much at home and were beautifully settled and happily joining in with activities. There were some very proud big brothers
and sisters showing them around our wonderful school.
Some of our beautiful Kindergarten children listening to every word!
Uniform news
At our last P&C meeting a new supplier had been sourced enabling the purchase of our summer uniforms at a reduced price. All summer dresses will now be $45. A new winter tunic has also been added to our uniform list for next year. These are also available from our new supplier at a cost of $60. Samples are currently at our uniform shop for parents wishing to take a look at them. A new uniform order is attached to this week’s newsletter. Unfortunately there have been some cost increases resulting in us needing to raise our prices slightly on some items.
A reminder that our ‘No Hat Play in the shade’ policy is in force. If your child has lost or misplaced their hat, there are plenty in stock and can be purchased on canteen days – Monday and Friday.
Library lunchtime activities
This term Mrs Commins has started some fun lunch time activities for the children. These range from card games days, board games days, drawing days, construction toy days. These are already proving very popular and it has been lovely to see some of our senior students teaching their younger peers some new games. Thanks to our Woolworths ‘Earn and Learn’ program and the generous donations by our families, I have been able to order a variety of board games and construction kits for use during these lunchtime activities – hopefully they will arrive soon!

Our new summer canteen menu is attached, along with a volunteer form. We desperately need more helpers in our canteen. If you can spare just a few hours it would be greatly appreciated.
