Analysis of Existing Digipak - Disc

This is the disc cover for Rihanna’s album ‘Talk that Talk’. This a pop album that incorporates other genre’s such as HOUSE, DANCE, HIP HOP AND DANCEHALL. Like most R&B albums the disc has the artists name and album name printed on in an unique way. This album revolves around romance and lascivious lovers.

The cover helps give an impression the music that is found on the album. Rihanna is seen exhaling marijuana which is highly influenced in the Hip Hop genre. Her image does subvert from stereotypical female image but she is sexualised as we can see some of her skin.

Artists tend to display the song-list on the back of the of the album. Using handwritten font can illustrate the music to have significant lyrics.

These photos give a sense to the audience of what she can offer and shows off her personality. Rihanna has no performance pictures on this album , its populated with images that sexualise her and almost see her as a model rather than an artist. The settings of these photos illustrate most of the songs as the lyrics are quite provocative.
