Two problems:The sea is salty and salt water is not so good for drinking or growing plans You cant just take the salt out of water, right?

salt water, that would be in the long-range interest of humanity, and would really dwarf any other

scientific accomplishment. !

What is reverse osmosis?

Reverse osmosis is the exact opposite of osmosis; making a solvent filter out of high concentrate solution into a lower concentrated solution.

The history of reverse osmosis

In the 1950s, researches began exploring how reverse osmosis could be a possibility to desalinate ocean water.

How do we use it?The desalination of water Extracting minerals or chemicals Recycling Or even to make maple syrup!

The disadvantagesA lot of drinking water = a lot of salt left over Not entirely self-sustaining Problems with the membrane The cost
