Work Not.Life is measured

By how much you get out of it,Not by how much you put into it.

Think of it as a calendar,Losing a page each day.

In time, you come upon its last.

Your journey ends,Unknowlingly, inexorably, inescapably.Life is but the function of an unknown quantity.

Live it, like its your very last.

Why struggle?When nature beckons with its verdant garb,

And cools the summer sunWith its balmy breeze.

So take a chair and seek shelter,Before nature changes the weather,

And hides Old Sol behind its downy feather.

When life settles in a doldrum,Some drink to get stoned,

Some smoke and gaze at the ringlet puffs,

Some seek solace in chests or bosoms,Some dream of sea gulls and feathery doves.The way to freedom seems lost,

But well in sight.Even Dante missed the true import

Of what lies beyond Paradiso,A frmament we share in glorious light.

Well now, Mother Goose,What serene thoughts you harbor in your crown?

Theres a message in her swagger,That nonchallent, graceful demeanor,epitomizing what humans have lost

In their hurry down Lifes river.

Quack, Quack she utters,But the missive is lost in our eternal clutter.

Have you lost your Beacon?

The Man asks.Its there, He says.Just seek,

And you shall fnd.Let no one tell you different,

For theres a way,You just have to get upFrom that easy chair,

And sally forthon the path to discovery,

As Dante says,

Why not climb up the mountainof delight,

The origin and causeof every joy?

Is your life in a knot?

Winding roads that lead to nowhere?Have you days when you wish the sun had never risen?

Fear not.Learn to count your blessings.

Remember how the morning grass glistensAs it greets the unfolding sight

Of each and everything.

Hurry, hurry!Time and tide wait not.

For all of its beauty,Evening shortens Life by a day,

Catches you unawares,And lo, another page and one less day.

Allow not its beguiling colorsCoax and soften you,

For it truly robs you of another day.

And the Rider home from the Hills ...Riding into the sunset,

Sky aglow with the last breath of light, golden yetTinged with the taste of Death,

Before all plunges into darkness,Hurtling with it,

Hopes, dreams, illusions, fears, doubtsBut there still is Love.

From ashes we come,To ashes we return.

They chant the lilting song of resurrection,A tunnel of time,

We travel from Final Day,To a new, reincarnated beginning,

yet bearing no likeness, carrying no memories,a cerebral blank that awaits the visit of another being.
