Kairos Prison Ministry Team
For the past 15 years, the Kairos Prison Ministries team has conducted a 4-day weekend program at California State Prison-Sacramento (new Folsom). The purpose of the ministry is to build a Christian community in the prison. The experience is a transforming one, conveying to inmates who feel they are social rejects, the message that they are loved by God in the same way that God loves all his children. The next weekend is April 12-15. If you would like to be involved in this program, there are several ways you can participate. Please consider one or more of the following opportunities to be part of the Kairos Prison Ministry program.
COOKIES: The Kairos Prison Ministry is in need of home-made cookies for the 4-day retreat. Homemade cookies are a tangible expression of Christian love and an indication of God’s concern for a group of people who seldom encounter either in the course of their daily lives. For information on what types of cookies are allowed and where to deliver them, please contact Pat Lindsay at 916-435-9644 or Cookie Woodhall at 916-672-6595.
PRAYER POSTERS: These posters are taped to the meeting room walls, conveying thoughts and encouragement for the weekend. Any size is acceptable.
PRAYER VIGIL: During the entire weekend, someone will be praying for the “MEN IN BLUE” as well as for the team of volunteers who go into the prison. Choose a one-hour time you will remember and PRAY, PRAY, PRAY.
It costs money to support the meals and supplies used on the weekend. Some of the cost is borne by the volunteers. If you wish to contribute, please make out a check to Kairos Prison Ministry, put it in a labeled envelop, and take it to the church office. No amount is too small or too large. Please contact John Woodhall at 916-672-6595 with any questions.
Thank you, and God bless!St. Joseph Marello Kairos team:David Lindsay, Paul Avery, John Woodhall
