Information About Face-to-Face Blended/Hybrid Model• Schools will be operating on regular school hours for all school employees.• Students will have a modified school day beginning at 8:00 AM and ending at 2:00 PM.• Teachers will work with students who may have questions during remote learning or who need remediation between 2:00 - 3:30 PM.

Staggered Face-to-Face Blended/Hybrid Model Schedule• A staggered two-week schedule beginning the week of September 21 will enable teachers to begin face-to-face instruction with more personalized interactions, and teach small groups of students the expectations for masking, social distancing in the building, and practicing good hygiene while on campus. • PreK students will remain in the building for face-to-face instruction five days per week.• All students in grades K-12 will be divided into the following four cohort groups. The school will notify parents of which cohort their child is assigned to.• During the first two weeks, September 21 - October 2, each cohort group will receive face-to-face instruction in school one day per week. — A1 cohort will come to school on Monday. — A2 cohort will come to school on Tuesday. — B1 cohort will come to school on Wednesday. — B2 cohort will come to school on Thursday.• On week three, the week of October 5, students in grades K - 3 will receive face-to-face instruction in school four days per week with social distancing in place to fully utilize the capacity of staff to focus on early literacy while spacing students out; with remote learning on Friday.• On week three, the week of October 5, students in grades 4 - 12 assigned to cohorts A1 and A2 will be combined, and students assigned to cohorts B1 and B2 will be combined. The combined cohorts will receive face-to-face instruction in school two days per week; with remote learning on Friday. — A1 + A2 cohorts will come to school on Monday and Tuesday. — B1 + B2 cohorts will come to school on Wednesday and Thursday.• All students will have a uniform remote learning day on Friday to work on weekly assignments.

Vulnerable Populations• Teachers will support our most vulnerable students in a manner that is consistent with each student’s individualized education plan (IEP) or 504 plan.• We will make reasonable accommodations for every child on a case-by-case basis.

Instructional Content• Teachers will provide instruction through a blended learning model - a combination of online and face-to-face. Content will be delivered through PowerSchool Learning (formerly through PowerSchool Learning/Haiku) Management System for all students.• Teachers will provide feedback on assignments. • Teachers will focus on small group assignments and individual assistance when students are face-to-face. • Students who have questions about assignments during remote learning will be able to contact their teacher during office hours. • Attendance will be taken daily.• Students who do not complete assignments on remote learning days, sign in to PowerSchool Learning/Haiku during the week, or connect with his/her teacher, will be marked absent.• Devices will be provided for students who need them.• Parents and students will have access to our dedicated Surry County Schools Technology Support. The phone number for the tech line will be 336-356-TECH (8324). It will be manned from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. If calling after this time, please leave a voicemail and a technician will call back the next day.• There will be planned support for WiFi access through various community locations and hotspots.

Enhanced Health and Safety Protocols• Cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting protocols will be followed per the NC Department of Health and Human Services safety guidelines. These guidelines include detailed cleaning protocols and additional custodial staff to conduct daily cleaning and additional cleaning nightly/weekly.• Health screenings including temperature checks will be conducted before any person enters the school building or boards a school bus. • Students and staff will be required to wear a face-covering/mask while in school buildings and on school buses. The district will provide face coverings/masks for students. Students are encouraged to bring/use their favorite mask from home. It is expected that families will launder masks and students will bring them to school each day that they attend school face-to-face.• Students will be required to practice social distancing while on campus.• Hand sanitizer will be provided by the district for students and staff to use in the classroom.• If your child requires a health care plan during the school day, please contact your school nurse.• If you have questions regarding Surry County School’s Plan B, please contact your child’s school.
