Brief of my research work and activities
Research Highlight
The ozone and aerosols are the burning issue in the atmospheric research. In this
connection, to conduct the research work on ozone and its effect on the
environment, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) through Science
and Engineering Research Board (SERB) Government of India has provided Rs.
21,00,000/- as project fund.
Recently, we have developed Center for Space and Atmospheric Research at Sanjay
Ghodawat University, Kolhapur in collaboration with Indian Institute of Tropical
Meteorology (IITM), Pune, Ministry of Earth Science, Government of India.
I have visited China to present my research work at 10th International Workshop
on “Long-Term Changes and Trends in the Atmosphere” which was held in Hefei,
China during 14th to 18th May, 2018.
During M. Sc. (2009-2010), I have successfully completed project work entitled
“Study of the production of NOX and corresponding ozone depletion during
major solar proton events of the 23rd solar cycle over Payrne, Switzerland".
Based on this project work, one paper is published in reputed journals.
After passing M. Sc., I have devoted my time since 2010 to research and earned Ph.
D. degree. The title of thesis is “Study of Ionospheric Dynamics Using Night
Airglow Emission” under the guidance of Dr. A. K. Sharma in Department of
Physics, Shivaji University Kolhapur.
I also worked on characteristics of the equatorial plasma bubbles (EPBs) using
images of nightglow OI 630.0 nm emission recorded by all sky imager which was
installed by the Indian Institute of Geomagnetism, Navi Mumbai at Shivaji
University, Kolhapur.
We have developed a new formula to convert the pixel distance of OI 630.0 nm
images into the actual distance in ionosphere using geometry of airglow emission
layer. This work is published in the journal of ‘Current Science’. One of processed
image of this work is published on the cover page of Current Science in the same
issue (25 April 2014).
I have been delivered many invited lectures on Space Science, Quantum Mechanics
and Social Issues, etc in School, Colleges and Public places to motivate the students
as well as peoples towards scientific approach.
I have attended more than 50 international and national conferences, seminars,
workshops, etc. and also presented research papers by oral and poster.
In 2011, I awarded as a Research Assistant under DST-PURSE in the Department of
Physics, Shivaji University, Kolhapur for period, from 03 Sep, 2011 to 05 May 2014.
Department of Physics certified me as “Appreciation for Outstanding Service and
Significant Contribution” to the Physics Instrumentation Facility Center (PIFC) of
Department of Physics, Shivaji University Kolhapur.
In 2015, I have received International Travel Grant (ITG) from Department of
Science and Technology (DST) through Science and Engineering Research Board
(SERB) Government of India to present research paper at Montereal, Canada for
Joint Assemble 2015, was organized by the American Geophysical Union.
