Resume for design career apllication

Transcript of Resume

Accepting my unconditional offer to study at Loughborough University has been one of the best decisions I could have made. It is known as the best ‘Product Design’ course in England, it simulates a genuine working environment with high expecta-tions, pressure and deadlines to condition our work ethic and design ability. My 2 years at university has locked me into the design world, I understand the qualities associated with design and how to get there through the many platforms of com-munication and ambition.

PERCENTAGE

The university allowed a company (Reckitt and Benckiser) to set a typical design brief for my course of 170 students with a week’s deadline; the company admired my design idea and added me to a short list la-belled, ‘Clearly talented designers’. In January the ‘Dyson design team’ visited to set the challenge of design-ing a product that utilizes air, then building and presenting it in one day, to my surprise my design idea came 2nd overall. My A-level ‘Design and Technology’ (D&T) project was an eco-friendly house that utilized all the surrounding resources; the real challenge was producing a realistic and accurate model. I received 100% marks and learnt modelling tips and useful material knowledge as a result . My GCSE ‘D&T’ project in-volved building a water fountain for the elderly which included a natural trickling noise that was adjustable in volume, my development sheets were used as an exemplar for the A-level students.

DIGITAL SKILLS:

COURSE

Before University I travelled Southeast Asia for 4 months, the experience exposed me to another culture of design and how it is strongly related to religion and other cultural and environmental factors. It also enhanced my life skills such as meeting new people, inde-pendence, decisiveness and handling pressured situations. Every day after school I committed myself to training for the cross-country team, where eventually I advanced to racing for my county. I was equally interested in the local canoe club where I applied and won a grant of £12,000 to improve the clubs equipment and trips. I took my kayaking to a high level where I was ranked 10th in England. After com-pleting my 4* level, I qualied to coach 1* to novice canoeists, this enabled me to main-tain control and focus when it mattered. My second job was working at a motorway ser-vice station, this enabled me to follow instructions and work with difficult customers
