Restrictions for sodaSchool is a place where healthy habits should be

encouraged.

Kids that eat whatever they want are overweight because they make bad choices and get bullied because of their image.

Soda has about 44g of sugar per can, depriving kids from that option at school is the best reasonable choice for them and their health.

Think of the young children at school, and the suffering and humiliation you can save them from.

Putting the ban on soda at school will prevent them from getting addicted to it and lead them to living a healthier lifestyle.

Health vs Choice

Soda machines in schools can persuade the students into making choices that they normally wouldn’t make if they were at home.

According to a recent article published in 2014 in The New York Times, early onset Type II diabetes in adolescents have skyrocketed 80% since 1980. 63% of those in kids have access to soda machines on school.

It puts the children in an uncomfortable situation because there are no healthy alternatives when there are soda machines all around campus.

According to a survey of more than 200 schools conducted by the Center for Science in the Public Interest. In May, 75 percent of drinks and 85 percent of snacks sold via school vending machines were of poor nutritional value. In middle and high school, 70 percent of vending machine beverages sold were sugary drinks such as soda, iced tea and sports drinks, with water making up only 12 percent of beverages offered overall.

Some will argue that the staff at the school are responsible guardians for the child while they are at school.

The percentage of high schools that have vending machines are 98% in the U.S.A (United States of America) and of the high schools that have vending machines more than 8,200 students in 27 states and found out that 23% of those vending machines were used at least once a day for a beverage.

Gun Legalization

With an estimated 283 million guns in civilian hands, more than 30 people are shot and murdered each day.

The amount of lifetime medical costs U.S. taxpayers have to pay due to guns are almost half the amount of all taxes numbering in $1.1 billion (49%)

Gun Homicides (average annually):

Less than 50: Japan

Less than 150: Germany, Italy, France, etc.

Less than 200: Canada

More than 10,000: USA

The data above proves that Americans can not control themselves once in possession of guns and the government must enforce strict rules. Once Americans demonstrate that they can have self-control and the alleviate the current problems with guns, laws can be less strictly enforced.

Japan’s Act of 1958 states "No person shall possess a firearm or firearms or a sword or swords." U.S. gun law begins with the second amendment's affirmation of the "right of the people to keep and bear arms. Everyone in America believes they have a right to own a gun. However, they do not have a qualified reason for the ownership of a deadly weapon.

Gun Legalization cont.

Common sense gun laws.

At the age of 21 you may purchase a Handgun.

Requiring:

-A waiting period

-Federal firearms test

-Background check

-No concealed carry

18 year olds may have no possession of a handgun or ammunition, with exceptions.

-Also at the age of 18 you can purchase a long rifle.

As of now 21 year olds are untrained with the guns they the have rights to have possession of. The laws and requirements are so loosely enacted that any average Joe can acquire a type of gun.

On May 23, 2014 a mass shooting occurred in Isla Vista near the University of California, Santa Barbara. There Elliot Rodger killed six people (three were killed from stabbing) and injured fourteen people. He then resumed to shoot himself in the head. Elliot Rodger was then 22.

"A year and half ago it seemed like we were on the verge of, potentially, legislation that would stop the madness and end the insanity that has killed too many young people, thousands, tens of thousands since Sandy Hook*. I hope, I really, sincerely hope that this tragedy, this unimaginable, unspeakable tragedy, will provide impetus to bring back measures that would keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people who are severely troubled or deranged like this young man was." - Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal in regards toward the Isla Vista Massacre

*Sandy Hooks Elementary School Shooting(Newtown, Connecticut)- Adam Lanza (20)- murdered 20 children aged 6-7, 6 adult staff members, and his mother with a Bushmaster M4 Type Carbine rifle stolen from his mother. Considered one of the deadliest mass shooting at a high school or grade school in U.S. history and the second deadliest mass shooting by a single person in U.S. history.

"Somehow this has become routine. The reporting is routine. My response here at this podium ends up being routine, the conversation in the aftermath of it. We've become numb to this...Our thoughts and prayers are not enough. It's not enough. It does not capture the heartache and grief and anger that we should feel, and it does nothing to prevent this carnage from being inflicted someplace else in America -- next week, or a couple months from now."- President Barack Obama after the recent Oregon shooting on October 1, 2015 where eight students and an assistant professor were killed.

Bad for health and can cause death.

From 2001-2013 of Overdose Deaths of drugs. Females had almost 10,000 deaths and males had over 10,000 deaths from drug overdose in 2013.

Drug legalization.

Drug legalization cont.

Smoking marijuana is not the only alternative medicine.

People who smoke are not just hurting themselves, but others as well.

Illegal drug use cause 250,000 deaths per year.

Can Society Trust Itself? In a study by the Brady Campaign, 78% of victims of fatal shootings have had a

history of hard-drug abuse, and 16% admitted using heroin the day of the incident.

Everyday 289 people are shot; 86 of them die, 30 are murdered, 53 kill themselves, 2 die accidentally, and one is shot in a police intervention.

On September 21, 2001 terrorists attacked the Twin Towers and the Pentagon killing nearly 3000 Americans. It’s clear that if we had more restrictions about boarding on planes this wouldn’t have occurred.

In America we are spoiled and we have the right to choose what we put into our bodies. With the choices that we made in 2009-2010 more than two-thirds of Americans are overweight (68.8 percent).
