Priority 1 : 2,0 Mha (11 %) Priority 2 : 3,4 Mha (19 %) Priority 3 : 6,5 Mha (35 %) Priority 4 : 5,5 Mha (30 %) Priority 5 : 1,0 Mha ( 5 %)
Specific issues
1. Prevention and restoration of areas affected by forest fires
2. Restoration of agricultural land
3. Mitigation of desertification
4. Restoration of ecological connectivity of land (Natura 2000 network)
5. Restoration of areas with invasive species
6. Restoration of landfill sites located in grasslands and meadows

Second tool: Spanish National Action Plan against Desertification (NAPD)
ARIDITY DESERTIFICATION RISK
3.- Mitigation of desertification
There are ca 37.5 Mha of drylands (arid, semiarid and dry-subhumid) in
Spain showing desertification risk, more than 18 Mha with a medium to very
high desertification risk
Promotion of protective plant covers as well as the research in restoration
techniques in drylands
Encourages the use of organic amendments to soils and traditional systems
of soil and water conservation in croplands and grasslands
LUCDEME project (Fight against Desertification in the Mediterranean)
LUCDEME Objectives: - Analysis of desertification drivers - Restoration techniques - Training Main outputs: - Soil maps (1:100.000) - Network of stations for the monitoring of erosion and desertification
Third tool: Spanish Strategy for Vegetal Conservation 2014 -2020 (approved 9 June 2014)
Foster all inititatives aimed at conservation, sustainable use and
restoration of vegetal diversity in Spain
Ecological corridors –NATURA 2000 Network
Ecological Restoration (interactions and processes): to generate self-
maintaining systems (primers of SERI)
