The Response Aid Paging System provides an easy-to- use, cost effective solution to support deaf and hard of hearing people in case of a fire emergency. The device is set to Equality Act 2010 recommendations sending a strong vibration to every pager together with a text message alerting the user of a fire evacuation. • Meets Equality Act 2010 requirements for alerting the deaf and the hard of hearing* • Improves your duty of care and welfare of your customers and staff • Ensures safer, simpler and quicker evacuations • Easy to use with clear and simple fire alert instructions • Reduces the risk associated with evacuating deaf and hard of hearing people • Provides independence and reassurance to those unable to hear fire alarms • Adheres to BS5839 The Response Aid paging unit consists of a wall-mounted HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene) enclosure containing a 4 watt transmitter enclosed in an aluminium surround. It includes a 230- volt 3-pin plug, status indicator LED for Power and Transmission, and straight wire antenna, connected to the top of the enclosure using a 3/8 BNC bayonet connection. The unit has the capability of 3 volt-free contacts and one serial RS232 data port input which is not programmed as standard on the Response Aid Unit. In the event of transmitter failure, power supply failure and a loss in power output from the transmitter, there is a Fault output normally closed alarm accessible via internal terminal header. This is to be connected back to the fire alarm panel to alert the fire alarm panel of any failures. The system includes battery backup as standard. In the event of a 230 volt mains failure a stand-by battery will support the system for >24 hours in non-alarm plus thirty minutes in alarm. There is a low voltage detection sounder which will alert in the event of low battery. *Equality Act 2010 recommendations require all UK employers make a provision for disabled staff and customers in the area of fire safety.
