Michele Barnhill and MJ Bauer answer all CRC requests for volunteer help with enthusiasm, grace and humor. Since 2012, Michele has been volunteering her time and skills with CRC in many program areas, includ-ing schools programs and our child protection mediation program. Since 2010, MJ has served CRC in a number of capacities – as a volunteer mediator, board member and volunteer mentor, to name a few.

With Michele and MJ’s dedication and creativity, CRC’s Child Protection Mediation program achieved amazing results in 2014, including: facilitating 158 protective care conferences in Ramsey County, mediating 11 pre-trial CHIPs cases in Carver County and coordinating and delivering a total of 269 mediated services throughout both counties. Michele and MJ also trained new volunteers for the program, created protocols for each phase of the program, attended monthly and quarterly statewide stakeholder meet-ings and presented at program partners’ staff meetings.

Michele and MJ, in recognition of and profound thanks for all you do for our organization and programming, we salute you as our 2014 Volunteers of the Year!

2014 was the first full year that the Minnesota Restorative Services Coalition was housed at CRC. CRC funded most

of the operations of MRSC, including hiring staff. As a result, here are some highlights: • Youth Trauma & Restorative Justice Training in St. Cloud with over 30 people from around Minnesota.

• Restorative Justice & Diversion Training for 30 law enforcement professionals, county attorneys and public defenders from around Minnesota.

In 2014 CRC began a learning partnership with the Community Mediation Center in Rehovot, Israel. Staff and volunteers from both centers meet regularly through remote conferencing to grow peace building. We have established a strong and lasting bond with our counterparts in Rehovot. We share a common passion for resolving conflict with compassion and peace.

CRC won the award for Innovation from the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits and MAP. This award was given due to Conflict Resolution Center’s innovation in peace-building through dialogue.

• Annual Statewide Conference, “Humanizing the Other through the Recognition of our Collective Struggles” was attended by 90 participants.

• First Fridays Meetings launched a statewide initiative to create spaces for dialoge around restorative justice.

CRC St. Cloud and Duluth are fully operational satellite offices due to collaboration with many non-profits, educational entities, the courts and municipalities. Our work also expanded to new, previously unserved counties. 281 brand new participants engaged in education, mediation and facilitation services in Central Minnesotoa and the Arrowhead region. CRC launched a nationally recognized child protection mediation program in two new loca-tions serving 144 new families. This program has already led to a decline in contested court hearings and has led to quicker and more sustainable family reunification. New collaborative partnershipwith a County jail resulted in a transformational conflict resolution program serving inmates seeking skills to move away from crime and violence.

CRC continues to collaborate with non- profits in various locations to teach conflict resolution skills to youth on probation; resident councils in low-income housing and members of labor unions, neighborhood associations and university students.

CRC Staff – 612-822-9883
