Lighting and Umbrellas

The lights that I will be using will be the school lights , Patterson's which use tungsten bulbs. Also I will be using flash lights, controlling the power of the flashguns will control the light, too much light or only a small amount could make it unclear to see the subject. Wireless triggers which go on top of the camera connect the camera to the flash guns. I would make sure that the flashgun is pointing into the umbrella so that the lighting isn’t direct.

UmbrellasThe umbrella acts as a soft box, the flashgun would be pointing into the umbrella it will spread out the light. The umbrella will be positioned at an angle, if it was straight in front it would make the light look flat. In my photo I would want to create high key lighting.

Reflectors • With reflectors it enables me to control

the direction and the amount of light on the person by reflecting, positioning and softening the light.

DSLR Camera • I will use the DSLR camera to take my

photographs with. • The camera has: A lens ,A flash button,

Cross keys ,An erase button , a main control dial.

White Screen • I will be using a white screen in my

photography, this would be most suitable to use in an interior location, such as a photography studio. It is best to use for me to Photoshop a background.

Brackets And Snoots Snoots role is to create a spotlight. The snoot can be faced towards the wall to create high key lighting. Brackets: Brackets come in different sizes, a smaller one would be used for an umbrella and a larger one would be used for a snoot or beauty dish. They are used to secure and position the equipment.

Tripod • A tripod is a modifier, I could decide to use a tripod to

position my camera, so that it would be straight, so that I would be able to take an accurate photograph. It is a three legged frame.

• In Design And Photoshop

• The software that I will be using would be ‘InDesign’ and ‘Photoshop’. Photoshop for the cover page of my magazine. And ‘InDesign’ for the content page and double page spread, as it is mainly used for text. The primary tools needed for me to create my magazine are: the selection tool(the arrow), the type tool (T), the rectangle frame tool, the scissors tool and the color tools, which shows the fill color and outline color of an object. I would use the type tool for typing up the interview which is on my double page spread, ‘InDesign’ would also help me with my layout, I would put it in columns to make my magazine look professional. InDesign allows me to add images, these will be images of my artists.

In Design and Photoshop

• Photoshop I would use for editing my image of my artist and changing the colors and fonts of the text. In the character section I would be able to wrap text around an image. I would use the red arrow if I wanted to make a new column. I would use the rectangle tools to draw shapes. I would use ‘Swatches’ to be able to access and edit color.

Changing the Settings

• I would want to keep the shutter speed the same because I will be working with flash. It will be at 1/120th of a second, the quicker the shutter speed, the darker the image, this allows a shorter amount of time for the light to get in.

• Also on the DSLR camera the ISO should be kept the same at 100, to make sure that the image is clear.

• I would however be able to change the aperture, in my photography I want a bright look, therefor I would want a larger hole for the image that I am trying to create.
