1. Introduction

1.1 Background Webster's College dictionary defines glossary as a list of

terms in a special subject, field or area of usage, with accompanying definitions. Glossaries are invaluable tools for translators, as they help in the selection of appropriate terms during the translation process. (Raya 2013)

A bilingual glossary is a list of terms in one language which are defined in a second language or glossed by synonyms (or at least near-synonyms) in another language. This kind of glossary is quite common in translation/localization industry. (Raya 2013)

Those are some brief definitions about glossaries; as tools for translators either bilinguals or classics and as specialized books of terms related to a specific subject.

1.2 Racionale The reasons to develop a glossary: The weak demand of the students in

creating glossaries In my opinion is one of less complex

research

1.3 Objective The main objective of this work is to create a

glossary that functions as a guide. This glossary will be a practical and useful guide for parents and official institutions such as DIF which is in charge of the programmes to prevent problems related to nutrition in the Mexican childhood so this work will contribute as an element tool to develop strategies for programmes that pretend to stop the obesity and the malnutrition in the Mexican childhood.

1.4 Significance of the research This glossary has a great importance for the

Mexican population because of the obesity’s high rates in Mexican childhood in comparison with other countries all over the world. Nowadays Mexico ranks first in Childhood obesity since 2011 even so it was until January 25, 2012 when the president Felipe Calderón declared this “epidemic” officially according to Chávez (2013).

2. Literature Review

The kind of glossaries I found relate to the child nutrition field are to general and they have a lack of technical terms for example the Tracking Process on Child and Maternal Nutrition published by the UNICEF (2009) that publishing contends a glossary of terms used in that inform but those terms are too general and there just a few of technical terms that can included in this work.

3. Method

This is just a brief about the specific area this glossary will be fit

Child nutrition science is defined as the study of Nutrition Processes as well as the components of food, their actions, interaction, and balance in relation to health and disease of children, infants or adolescents (MeSH 2007)

To develop this project it is necessary to do a deep analysis in subjects as obesity and malnutrition in order to design an action plan to combat both problems. The action plan will be presented at the end of this project. To make this objective take place it is also important to get a wide knowledge about the Child nutrition science and to search in reliable sources such as WebPages, books referring to the topic, dictionaries and encyclopedias. Those elements are close related to general medicine.

Other elements I will consider for this work are getting the opinions of some experts in the nutrition field such as nutritionists and doctors and inclusive interns.
