Research

• Watch other teaser trailers for the romantic genre to discover conventions in order for me to find a starting point.

• Watch other A2 media student’s trailers in order to get a realistic idea of what is achievable before getting started.

• Surveymonkey allowed me to conduct research on a worldwide level rather that just face-to-face interviews, which helped me to discover what a wide audience wanted from a romantic movie, therefore increasing its realistic chances of success when taking there feedback into consideration for planning

• Google allowed me to research the programs I would be using in later stages in order to get a clear idea of the skills I needed before production began.

Planning

• I used Comic Life to create a clear, detailed and precise story board so that I knew exactly what needed to be filmed. This gave both myself and my actors confidence and cut down on the amount of work needed to be done.

• Slideshare allowed me to share my presentations with others, to get continuous feedback as I worked rather than doing everything and then being told what to change. This decreased the number of hours I had to spend editing, and cut down on the time needed to film as I had a clear idea of what to do.

Production

FinalCut Production of the trailer, cutting clips, adding music, transitions, creating the split screen which set our teaser trailer apart

LiveType Creating title screens for the credits, movie name, release date, production/distribution company, and regular TS which were important as we chose not to use a voiceover

PhotoShop Important for the ancillary products, particularly the magazine in order to make it artistic to tie in with the house style of Little White Lies through the use of artistic filters.

InDesgin Used when producing the ancillary products, especially the movie poster when creating the title and credits, particularly the bottom credits which were made with SteelTongs font to follow conventions.

YouTube To continuously upload changes and additions to your trailer in order to get audience feedback continuously, making your work a lot more thorough and designed specifically with your target audience in mind.

PowerPoint Allowed me to document my ancillary product’s production thoroughly and keep a record of any changed made because of audience feedback etc. Helps to present my work in various stages clearly and easily and helped when printing out for audience feedback.

Evaluation

• I used PowerPoint to create questionnaire's to be handed out to our target audience in order to accurately record the effectiveness of our product and so that we could look back later upon these when making changes.

• Flikr was used for annotation of my ancillary products in order to make it clear why I did various things within the production of these products and the effect I hopes for it to achieve

• I used YouTube to annotate my trailer in order to make it as clear as possible what I was trying to achieve and to give viewers a sort of ‘director’s cut’ of the trailer. I wanted them to be able to judge for themselves if the things I wanted to come across in the trailer were executed successfully.
