ReptilesAll reptiles are cold-blooded. The types of

reptiles are lizards, turtles, snakes, tortoises, crocodiles, and alligators. Some reptiles are venomous like the king cobra but not all of them. Some are small and some are huge like the leatherback turtle. All reptiles shed skin.

The King Cobra

The King Cobra

The king cobra is venomous. It lives in

Southeast Asia, India, Philippines, Indonesia, and Egypt. It eats other snakes, lizards, eggs, and small mammals. Eating other snakes gives the king cobra a nickname that is “The Snake Eater.”

The Iguana lives in Southern Canada to Argentina, Madagascar, Fiji, and in Tonga. The iguana has a “third eye” that can tell light from dark an detect colors. This eye can’t focus on anything because the lens and the skin over the eye is not see through. Iguana’s are herbivores and don’t eat meat like bugs. They eat mature leaves of trees with some flowers, fruits and berries.

The water moccasin is the same snake as the cottonmouth. The cottonmouth lives in North America, Mexico, and South America. They eat other snakes, lizards, fish, turtles, frogs, small birds, alligators, and small mammals. It is semi-aquatic. Semi-aquatic means a list of organisms that spend part of their life cycle in water.

The Nile crocodile lives in sub-Saharan Africa, the Nile Basin, and Madagascar. The Nile crocodile has one of the most powerful bite ever. They eat zebras, hippos, wildebeest, porcupines, pangolins, birds, fish, and other crocodiles and carrion.

The Black Mamba

The Black Mamba

The Black Mamba lives in Southern Africa. It is one of the most venomous snakes in Africa. They eat rodents, rats, birds, mainly any thing but monkeys and wild pigs. They are grey and not black. It’s is the second biggest snake and Africa’s largest venomous snake. It’s venom can kill in 15 minutes.

The Leatherback Sea Turtle

It lives in the coast of Canada called Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Labrador, New Brunswick, Prince Edward, and sometimes the coast of British Columbia. It’s an endangered species. They eat jellyfish. It is the largest reptile on earth.

The chameleon lives in Madagascar, Africa, the Middle East, and Southern Europe. Chameleons can change color but not it’s pattern. Chameleons eat insects. Chameleons have long sticky tongue to capture prey.

Geckos

Geckos

Geckos live in Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia, America, and all warm weather countries. They eat crickets and other bugs. They can stick to walls because they have millions of tiny hairs on their feet. These hairs are called setae and each hair splits into even tinier branches that are stickey.

The Galapagos Tortoise

The Galapagos Tortoise

It lives in the Galápagos Islands. They eat leafy plants, flowers and fruit. It can weigh up to 882 pounds and can grow up to 6 feet long. There were 15 sub-species on the Galapagos Islands and now 11 sub-species still exists.

It lives in Burma, Malaysia, and Thailand. They eat lizards, amphibians, other snakes, mammals, and birds. It kills its prey by strangling not using venom. It is one of the largest of all snakes, growing up to 25 feet, usually 20 and weighing up to 190 pounds.

Anaconda

Anaconda The anaconda lives in Peru, Brazil,

Venezuela, Colombia, and Bolivia. They eat deer, wild pigs, birds, ocelot, other snakes, tapirs, sheep, and dogs as well as large rodents like the agouti, paca, and capybara. They are also called the Water Boa.

American Alligator

American Alligator

It lives in Southeastern United States. They eat crustaceans, fish, turtles, wading birds, some mammals, and more aquatic life. It can have 74 and 80 teeth in their mouth at a time.

Komodo Dragon

The komodo dragon lives in Komodo, Rinca. The Komodo dragons saliva is extremely venomous so it can kill its prey quickly. It eats monkeys, wild boar, deer, water buffalo, goats, snakes, livestock such as sheep and cattle.

The puff adder lives in Africa. The Puff Adder is one of Africa’s most venomous snakes. It eats rodents, birds, amphibians, lizards and small mammals. It is Africa's most dangerous snake. One reason is that it has a very very bad temper and it can kill a person with just one bite.

Diamondback Rattle Snake

Diamondback Rattle Snake

It lives in North Carolina, Eastern Louisiana, Florida, Mexico, and from Central Arkansas to SE California. It gets it’s name by the diamond shaped pattern on its back and from the rattling noise it makes with the bones in their tail. It eats mice, rats, rabbits, gophers, ground dwelling birds, lizards and other small animals.There are two types of diamondback rattle snakes, Eastern and Western.
