Camera shot, angle and composition

Here the high angle shot of the Doctor compliments the small and frail image on him presented. The angle suggests his lack of status, and creates

sympathy for the character from the audience as they are used to him constantly being in control.

Editing

There is use of continuity editing throughout the clip, however there is a variation of time between the transitions of each shot. During this frame the director lingers the camera on The Master so the audience can see his despaired reaction as the audience hears the diegetic sound of Martha explaining how she can overcome him.

Mise-en-scene

Here the mise-en-scene conveys Martha’s prisoner status as the guards are placed behind her. The shot allows the audience to see the power The Master has over her.

Sound

Here The Master is seen using very imperative diegetic dialogue. His vocals become lower when saying the word “kneel” to add emphasis to the word, and fully portray his authority over Matha.
