The major interventions of the Project :
Promotion of food and nutrition security among the 3000 families through ½ acre
Annapurna models.
Digging of trenches, Furrows and formation of beds.
Promotion of Agri and Horticulture mixed interventions.
Building Capacity of the farmers in implementation of Annapurna model of
cultivation.
Promotion of 150 livelihood based groups in the project area.
Promotion of cluster level producers’ federations.
Promoting drudgery reduction activities.
Establishment of organic outlets.
Identification of traditional healers and document best practices.
Identification and documentation of locally available leafy and tuber vegetables.
Provide market information and linkages.
Expected out puts of the project by end of 2015-16 (3rd year)
Grounding 3000 Annapurna models.
150 producers groups, 8 cluster federations, 1 macs covering 3000targeted
beneficiaries will be established and functioned.
Establishment of 6 vegetable outlets, processing, value addition and marketing
to be done.
120 traditional healers identified and documented best traditional health
practices
Identified and documented locally available leafy and tuber vegetables and
their nutritional values.
Collection of best Annapurna success stories and publishing.
Convergence with Govt. Depts, CBOS etc…
Expected outcomes of the project
Improved targeted families economic & food security
At least 75% of the households will earn income upto Rs 30,000/- in rain fed, Rs
50,000/- in irrigated areas after 3complete years.
At least 75% of the households will be improve their food security.
At least 75% of the households will benefit by reduction of health expenditure
80% of women will participate and influence over decision making at households
and community level.
70% of families will utilize drudgery reduction tools.
85% of households will protect and use traditional seeds.
75% of traditional healers report skills improve to provide traditional health care
in their villages.

Major activities implemented since inception of the project
1) Baseline survey: out of 3000 targeted households 2564 households were
completed baseline survey in the following mandals

2.Trainings : After completion of the training to community resource persons, cluster
coordinators and project staff organized 3 days residential training to 1463 beneficiaries
out of 3000 in the following topics
1) Brainstorming on traditional agriculture and modern agriculture
2) Natural agricultural scientistsand other institutions working on organic agriculture
3) Non negotiables in organic agriculture practices.
4) Understanding of Beneficial and harmful insects
5) Annapurna model of agricultural practices (Both theory and practical)

mahila kisans consisted with 10-15 members organized as village level Annapurana
pantala Sanghams. 80 village level Annapurna pantala Sangams initiated out of 150

9) Awards to Best Annapurna practicing farmers: 9 progressive Annapurna practicing
farmers were awarded by then Principal Secretary –Rural Development Sri Raymond
Peter and then SERP CEO Sri B.Rajsekhar on 15th Jan 2014.
Vizianagaram District Collector nominated two Tribal women for Chandranna Sankranthi
awards on 14th January 2015.
A Tribal women Annapurana practicing farmer Smt. P. Chandramma, Kurupam selected
for state level best farmer and awarded by Sakshi media in Hyderabad on 8 th March
2015 woman’s day
10) Exposures: All the field functionaries were exposed to Alamanda of Odissa state to
visit Lemon grass cultivation in the dry land fields of Tribals. And also visit lemon grass
oil extraction unit. 25farmers visited NIPHM (National Institute of Plant Health
Management in Rajendranagar, Hyderabad.
11) Exhibitions: Annapurna model of cultivation have been exhibited and said benefits
gained by practicing farmers in the following areas during the project time.
