The work covered in this report was done as a follow- up to the geological surveys performed in June of

The Kalrock Resoureces-Grenf ell property consists of

seven contiguous unpatented mining claims! numbered L.1D757ST- L.lD?27bl inclusive and L.lD71bSS - L.1071bSfl inclusive. They

are in the Township of Grenfell-i District of Timiskaming! Larder Lake Mining Division-! Northeastern Ontario.

The property is located along the eastern boundary of Grenfell Township that is shared with Teck Township-i between the 5 and 3 mile boundary posts.

The property is approximately seven miles west of the town of Kirkland Lake. It is accessible via the Goldthorpe Road behind the flaccassa nine. This road can be truck travelled

to within one and one half miles of the grid and by ATV for the remainder. A beaver dam crosses the road on the east property

boundary.

NATURE OF UORKi

During June of mil a Proton Magnetometer and EH. VLF

survey was performed on the propertjz. The survey was done along a compass and ribbon grid lines. The lines are running north-south at 3QD foot intervals with stations marked every IDD feet.

There were two areas looked at during the present work. The magnetic survey showed a series of off-scale readings running east-

west along grid lines. These off-scale readings were also along the

sides of mag highs and wag lows with no visible evidence in the geology as to their cause. This will be referred to as area 1. Area B was an old trench that appears to be about thirty years old.

Although there was no significant mag readings in the areai there is

also no recorded evidence of this trench..

Area l of the present work program is located on lines E+OOE and 3+OOE at Ig+SON and l^+^ON respectively.

An Atlas Copco gas powered plugger was used to establish a series of two foot holes at the above mentioned stations. The holes were then blasted with Sil-Gel 70* and three meter safety fuses.

The surface of the outcrop is extremely weathered as it is a higt point of land exposed on a large outcrop. At 18+OON E+OOE the gabbro showed some amounts of pyrotita. The rock was tested qith dymethol- glycol but did not react it is however magnetic. The rock at l^-tSON 3+OOE is a coarser grained gabbro with no visible sulphides it has a higher magnetitie content.

The supphide/mineral content and magnetite concentrations of the gabbro are the probable cause of the off-scale readings.

AREA E

Area E is located at fl+OOS line Qi 10'west of the line.

From S+QOs to approximately 7+50S is a swamp that this outcrop

arises from. The old pit is approximately 5 f oo longi E feet wide

and three feet deep* the bottom being broken up rock. The interior

of the old pit has grown in and was full of water due to the heavy

rains of late.

After de-watering the pit with a Briggs and Stratton

water pumpi the growth was cleared out. An Atlas Copco gas powered

plugger was used to put two foot holes in place at the bottom-center

of the pit and on the sides. Sil-gel 70* with three metere saffety

fuses were used to blast the holes open for fresh exposure.

The rock is altered volcanics with quartz stock works and bull quartz. The volcanics show minor sulphides that react to

dymethol-glycol. On the advise of Ram Sangster-i geologist with

Ministry of Northern Development and Mines the samples were sent to

be tested for goldi nickel and platinum group elements. Results to

follow.
