DEPARTMENT.OF APPLIED SCIENCE The Department of Applied Sciences is actively pursuing technical teaching embracing both basic and applied areas of Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics and Communication skills. Department is devoted to the advancement of technical knowledge and education of students in areas that contribute to or prosper in an environment of science and technology. Together with the experimental methods, mathematics forms the conceptual scheme on which modern science is based. In this institute, we try to impart sound and clear theoretical and practical knowledge to the budding engineers which serves as a tool in their hands to build up numerical and

DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE & ENGINEERING

I extend you a heartiest and warm welcome to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. I would like to share with you the views expressed by our honorable former president Dr. APJ Kalam

Page 11: Report 2003

(first and may be the last president known as people’s president) that in India, there is no dearth of resources and talent, only thing we need to change is the mindset (we have to shed chalta hai attitude). He has set a vision for us to see India a developed country by 2020, and the basis for his vision is the talent of our youth. It is my firm belief that our youth has immense talent and energy, but the only concern is that they lack direction, motivation and zeal for excellence in their worthy acts. I also want to share with you my views about the (holistic) education. As I believe, holistic education has two aspects:

First aspect of it is that teaches us how to make living, and

Second aspect of it is that teaches us how to live life

I assure you that my dedicated team of faculty and technical staff will shoulder their responsibilities of imparting both aspects of education so that we can contribute our share in the development of the country by producing individuals who are globally competent in their respective disciplines and are

Page 12: Report 2003

well equipped with morals and values of joyful life (honesty, sincerity, integrity, loyalty, commitment,.).To achieve our objectives, apart from providing the best know how in the field of Computer Science and Information Technology, we will have a plan to take initiatives for the overall development of personality (grooming). In this direction, we plan to take initiatives for strong character building, enhancing their communication and presentation skills, improving their logical reasoning and analytical skills, inculcating leadership qualities.

HTML The <img> Tag and the Src Attribute In HTML, images are defined with the <img> tag.  The <img> tag is empty, which means that it contains attributes only, and has no closing tag. To display an image on a page, you need to use the src attribute. Src stands for "source". The value

Page 46: Report 2003

of the src attribute is the URL of the image you want to display. Syntax for defining an image: <img src="url" alt="some_text"/>

HTML TablesTables are defined with the <table> tag.A table is divided into rows (with the <tr> tag), and each row is divided into data cells (with the <td> tag). td stands for "table data," and holds the content of a data cell. A <td> tag can contain text, links, images, lists, forms, other tables, etc.Table Example<table border="1"><tr><td>row 1, cell 1</td><td>row 1, cell 2</td></tr><tr><td>row 2, cell 1</td><td>row 2, cell 2</td></tr></table>HTML Tables and the Border Attribute

Page 47: Report 2003

If you do not specify a border attribute, the table will be displayed without borders. Sometimes this can be useful, but most of the time, we want the borders to show. To display a table with borders, specify the border attribute: <table border="1"><tr><td>Row 1, cell 1</td><td>Row 1, cell 2</td></tr></table>HTML Table HeadersHeader information in a table are defined with the <th> tag.The text in a th element will be bold and centered. <table border="1"><tr><th>Header 1</th><th>Header 2</th></tr><tr><td>row 1, cell 1</td><td>row 1, cell 2</td></tr><tr><td>row 2, cell 1</td><td>row 2, cell 2</td>

</tr></table>

HTML LISTSThe most common HTML lists are ordered and unordered lists:

An ordered list:1.The first list item2.The second list item3.The third list item

An unordered list: List item List item List item

HTML Unordered ListsAn unordered list starts with the <ul> tag. Each list item starts with the <li> tag.The list items are marked with bullets (typically small black circles). <ul><li>Coffee</li><li>Milk</li></ul>

HTML Ordered ListsAn ordered list starts with the <ol> tag. Each list item starts with the <li> tag.The list items are marked with numbers. <ol><li>Coffee</li><li>Milk</li></ol>How the HTML code above looks in a browser:

HTML Definition ListsA definition list is a list of items, with a description of each item. The <dl> tag defines a definition list. The <dl> tag is used in conjunction with <dt> (defines the item in the list) and <dd> (describes the item in the list): <dl><dt>Coffee</dt>

A form can also contain select lists, text area, field set, legend, and label elements. The <form> tag is used to create an HTML form: <form>input elements</form>HTML Forms - The Input ElementThe most important form element is the input element. The input element is used to select user

information. An input element can vary in many ways, depending on the type attribute. An input element can be of type text field, checkbox, password, radio button, submit button, and more. The most used input types are described below.Text Fields<input type="text" /> defines a one-line input field that a user can enter text into: <form>First name: <input type="text" name="firstname" /><br />Last name: <input type="text" name="lastname" /></form>

Password Field<input type="password" /> defines a password field: <form>Password: <input type="password" name="pwd" /></form>Radio Buttons

Page 52: Report 2003

<input type="radio" /> defines a radio button. Radio buttons let a user select one of a limited number of choices: <form><input type="radio" name="sex" value="male" /> Male<br /><input type="radio" name="sex" value="female" /> Female</form>

Checkboxes <input type="checkbox" /> defines a checkbox. Checkboxes let a user select ONE or MORE options of a limited number of choices. <form><input type="checkbox" name="vehicle" value="Bike" /> I have a bike<br /><input type="checkbox" name="vehicle" value="Car" /> I have a car </form>

Submit Button

Page 53: Report 2003

<input type="submit" /> defines a submit button.A submit button is used to send form data to a server. The data is sent to the page specified in the form's action attribute. The file defined in the action attribute usually does something with the received input: <form name="input" action="html_form_action.asp" method="get">Username: <input type="text" name="user" /><input type="submit" value="Submit" /></form>HTML FramesWith frames, you can display more than one HTML document in the same browser window. Each HTML document is called a frame, and each frame is independent of the others. The disadvantages of using frames are:

The web developer must keep track of more HTML documents

It is difficult to print the entire page

The HTML frameset Element

Page 54: Report 2003

The frameset element holds two or more frame elements. Each frame element holds a separate document.

The frameset element states only HOW MANY columns or rows there will be in the frameset. The HTML frame ElementThe <frame> tag defines one particular window (frame) within a frameset. In the example below we have a frameset with two columns. The first column is set to 25% of the width of the browser window. The second column is set to 75% of the width of the browser window. The document "frame_a.htm" is put into the first column, and the document "frame_b.htm" is put into the second column: <frameset cols="25%,75%">   <frame src="frame_a.htm" />   <frame src="frame_b.htm" /></frameset>

These are the tags which we have used in this project. With the help of these tags we have web

pages on internet explorer. These tags help us to make our project easy and interesting. This is all about our HTML project.

CONCLUSION

This project of “ HTML” of gives us the complete information about the HTML language. We have got the proper knowledge of making webpages on internet explorer . In this project we have learn how to use html language. Throughout the project the focus has been on presenting information and comments in an easy and intelligible manner. The project is very useful for those who want to know about HTML language. In the last, we gratefully acknowledge and express

our gratitude to all staff members of our college and friends who supported us in preparing this project. This language is very interesting and easy to use .We conclude that this project of “ RAYAT BAHRA” has helped us to learn HTML language more easily.
