Renmin Business School

Founded in 1950, the Business School Renmin University of China (RMBS) has the longest history of Chinese management education. In recent years, internationalization has become a cornerstone for the School. It is one of the first mainland business schools accredited by both EQUIS and AACSB (2010 and2013). In 2014 and 2016, the School’s MBA, EE, and EMBA programs all ranked in the top 50 by Financial Times. RMBS is also a co-founder of the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM) initiated by Yale School of Management in 2012. Its bachelor programs are VERY selective for Chinese local students, admitting only those whose National College Entrance exam scores rank among the top 0.4% nationwide.

Our Global BBA program is a four-year bachelor program in English targeting international students. It features cross-disciplinary studies and multiple campuses. Students will gain invaluable insight into both western and eastern management approaches through an array of business courses and China-specific course series (including mandarin courses).

Students will spend two semesters abroad, each at one of our 70+ partners worldwide, without any additional tuition fees. The program also gives students access to double degree and accelerated masters programs through our partnerships with a number of leading business schools in China, Europe, and North America. Graduates of the program, if they wish to, can be directly admitted into our International MBA program.

The Admission Committee will meet for a Pre-Selection Jury, where they will examine your application in detail. During the Pre-Selection Jury, we will consider your educational background, extracurricular activities, essays and recommendations. Your application must show motivation to succeed and clear reasoning for applying to Renmin Business School for the Global BBA program. All of these aspects are taken into consideration when the Jury decides whom to invite for the interview process.

Right after the interview, our Admission Committee will meet to discuss and decide upon your application. They will review every aspect of your application and your performance in the interview. Decision outcomes may be “application admitted”, “decision deferred”, or “application denied”.

The interview (via video conference or Skype if you are not in Beijing) is a great way for us to assess your communication skills, leadership potential and ability to contribute effectively to group discussions, as well as to consider whether your personality complements the mindset and culture of Renmin Business School.

I’m not a native English speaker. I don’t have TOEFL/IELTS test scores now. Can I still apply for the program?

We require the TOEFL or IELTS examination for international applicants whose primary native language is not English. If you have attended a high school in English-speaking countries for at least three years, or your high school courses are delivered in English, then the TOEFL or IELTS requirement is waived.

Do you have a minimum requirement of SAT / ACT / AP / IELTS /TOEFL scores? Renmin Business School does not have a minimum standardized test score that a student needs to meet in order for his or her application to be reviewed. Rather, we believe that an applicant who puts the time and effort into applying for the Global BBA program deserves to have his or her application evaluated fully. So while we can't provide you with a formula to gain admission to the program, we can assure you that your completed application will receive careful, thoughtful, and deliberate attention from our Admission Committee. Ideally, applicants’ scores fall within this range:SAT: 1310-1390 ACT：28-32 AP：3-4 IELTS: 6.0-7.0 TOEFL: 90-100

I've taken the SAT and/or ACT multiple times. Will Renmin Business School use my highest individual section scores?

Yes. If you have taken the SAT more than once, we will take the highest individual section scores from each date and combine those scores. For the ACT, we will take your highest individual section scores and average them together, also known as "superscoring."

Does Renmin Business School limit the number of students admitted from each high school?

Renmin Business School strives to admit the most talented and qualified students from our applicant pool. Therefore, there is no limit to the amount of students we can admit from each high school.

FAQSDoes geography play a role in the admission process?Geography is not a factor in the admission process.

What are the deadlines to apply for the Global BBA program?

We handle applications throughout the year, and don’t have a fixed application deadline. But the earlier you submit application, the earlier you will get our admission notification and prepare for the trip to China if you are admitted. Given the time needed for visa application, we will send admission package to qualified applicants in April and May. Applications we receive after Apr.30 may not be considered.

Does Renmin Business School offer academic merit scholarships?

Yes. In fact, 50% of freshmen will be waived first-year tuition based on our Admission Committee’s evaluation of students’ overall performance in interviews and qualifications as demonstrated in their application materials. And in the following three years, students can apply for merit scholarships based on their academic performance each year. Successful applicants will be granted full-year or half-year tuition waiver.

Does applying for scholarships affect my chances for admission?

Absolutely not. Renmin Business School practices need-blind admission which means that a student's ability to pay is not considered by the Admission Committee.

How long does the Global BBA program take?

The Global BBA program takes 4 years to complete under the circumstances that all requirements are met by the student.

When does the first semester normally start?

The first semester usually starts in the first week of September.

Can I also start the Global BBA program in the spring semester?

How long is one semester, and what are your main holidays?

The fall semester usually starts from early September to mid January. The spring semester usually lasts from late February to late June. Between semesters are two month-long vacations, namely summer break (Aug.) and winter break (Jan./Feb.). We also have a 7-day spring break that spans late April and early May, and a week-long National Day holiday in the first week of October.

Will I have classes on the western holidays?

Our academic schedule follows Chinese holidays only. But we will consider making special arrangements for Global BBA students so that they can go back to their home countries to celebrate Christmas or other important holidays.

Are all students guaranteed four years of campus housing?

Yes, we guarantee on-campus housing for all our Global BBA students.

Do you consider enrolling transfer students?

We will, on a case-by-case basis, deal with applications from students who are currently pursuing a BA degree at another institution but want to transfer to Renmin Business School to continue their undergraduate studies in our Global BBA program.
