Stage 2 Excursion It was a cool morning and students turned up for a 6:30am roll call. There were excited student faces and worried parents
because it was a first for the Year 3 students to be staying away from mum and dad.
Mr Reddy and Mrs Frilay completed their roll calls and packed the bus. Then we stopped at Yass to have a snack and a play
at the park.
When we finally made it to Canberra we went to the Australian Institute of Sport. We stopped out the front to have some
lunch while a tour was booked for us around the Australian Institute of Sport.
Then just before we went on our tour we got split into 3 different groups. After
that the tour guide took us up to Sportex.
After the AIS we went to Questacon and we had a look in the shop. Then we
saw lightening and we also seen some scientists. The children really enjoyed
the shop because there was heaps of fun toys to buy and play with.
When we arrived to the Capital Country Holiday Park the children enjoyed the
jumping pillow, volley ball, basketball, tennis and a pool. They really enjoyed
the playground. Then we had a dinner buffet with roast beef, veggies, potato,
pumpkin, sweet potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, carrot and for desert we had
mango, Pavlova and ice cream.
The students then enjoyed more activities. Students were tucked in to bed at
9pm and lights were out at 9:30pm.
In the morning we had a beautiful breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon and
eggs and we also had waffles, mixed berries and custard. We really enjoyed the
breakfast.
Then after breakfast we had a big play on the playground and packed the bus.
We went to the zoo and we saw Sharks, Star Fish, Emus, Tigers, Snow Leopards, Baby Giraffe and Monkeys. The tour
guides name was Tye and he gave the students the chance to touch a snake. Mr Reddy organised a really good lunch. We
had salami, sliced frankfurts, salad and pita bread with tropical poppers and a bottle of water.
After shopping at the zoo we went to the Dino Museum. The tour of the museum was awesome for the students.
Students enjoyed the huge blue ber-
ry muffins, Muesli bars, poppers,
bottles of water and cheese snacks.

Water Safety Day Cootamundra Pool Staff organised a Water Safety Day again this year held at the
Cootamundra Pool on Thursday 15th November 2018.
Along with last year's representatives they had a few new delegates on board to
assist in providing students with knowledge and safety around water.
Schools were invited from Cootamundra and surrounding towns to participate.
Classes of approximately 15 to 20 kids per session for students Years 3 to 8 .
Each session ran for about 30 minutes with classes attending three sessions on the
day
Whether at home, visiting family and friends or on holiday, it is always important
to keep safety in mind when children are in or near water.
Therefore these water safety sessions are an important reminder to students prior
to our summer holidays.

Cancer Council
EA Southee would like to thank the local Cancer Council branch for
kindly donating 10 School hats for students that don’t have one.
Sun safety is high priority at EA Southee and we have some great shade
spaces for students to use during our warm months.
AArt with Amanda Levett EA Southee was fortunate to have Mrs Amanda Levett from Cootamundra Public School, come
to the school and provide a fantastic art lesson to our students. The lessons started with an ex-
planation of the symbols used in Aboriginal drawings and how they tell a story through them.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and gained a lot of knowledge about aboriginal
symbols and the meaning of some of their art.
These lessons are a continuing part of our ongoing collaboration with Cootamundra Public
School and the Yalbinyagirri program
