1. Requirements on operating system Mainstream Linux distributions from kernel version 2.6.11 to 2.6.27(including Fedora Core 7, 8, 9, 10,openSUSE 10.3, 11.1, Ubuntu 8.04)
2. Install Please select the relevant driver package according to the released version of your operating system. Take Version 1.0.1 for example:
Fedora Core: zteusbserial-1.0-1.i586-fedora.rpm Open SUSE: zteusbserial-1.0-1.i586-suse.rpm Ubuntu: zteusbserial-1.0-1-i386.deb
Package description: zteusbserial represents the name of the package, 1.0-1 represents the version number, and i586/i386 represents the system architecture supported by the software. Under KDE/GNOME environment, double-click the package to install. Follow the wizard to complete installation, or use the commands to install using terminal:
rpm package: execute rpm –ivh <The rpm package’s path> with root privileges. deb package: execute dpkg -i <The deb package’s path> with root privileges.
If CDMA terminal is connected with computer during the installation, please unplug and insert again after the installation of the driver package. You could use the dialer software to set up connection after installing the driver package. One may use gnome-ppp or kppp (GUI dialer software) or wvdial (command line dialer) to connect to internet.
2.1 Dialing using Graphic User Interface:
The kppp starting interface is shown in figure 1. Follow the steps below to configure kppp:
1. Click Configure…, switch to Modems tab, and click configure Modem as shown in figure 2:
2. Switch to Misc tab, and set pppd timeout 30 seconds;
3. Switch to Dial tab, click Add button to add the dialing number;
4. Use default values for other settings, then click OK button to return to the initial interface,Fill in Login ID and Password, and click Connect button to dial.

2.2 Dialing using Terminal Interface:
Edit /etc/wvdial.conf as below. Fill in Phone, Username and Password details.
[Dialer Defaults]
Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Modem Type = Analog Modem
Phone=<Target Phone Number>
Username=<Your Login Name>
Init1=ATZ
Password=<Your Password>
Baud=460800
PPPP Path= /usr/sbin/pppd
New PPPD= 1
Stupid Mode = 1
Tonline = 0
Run wvdial in the terminal to dial. Generally, the following similar prompt will show up after successful connection:

--> pid of pppd: 2450
--> Using interface ppp0
--> Authentication (CHAP) started
--> Authentication (CHAP) successful
--> local IP address 220.205.100.27

--> secondary DNS address 220.192.0.130
--> Script /etc/ppp/ip-up run successful
--> Default route Ok.
--> Nameserver (DNS) Ok.
--> Connected... Press Ctrl-C to disconnect
3. Uninstall
1. rpm package: execute rpm -e zteusbserial with root privileges.
2. deb package: execute dpkg -P zteusbserial with root privileges.
4. Trouble-shooting
Failures Causes Solutions
This may be caused by dialing too quickly after
CDMA terminal is inserted.
Please wait for a few seconds until the terminal’s LED is
ON, or unplug & replug the terminal and then redial.
Can’t find /dev/ttyUSB0 when dialing The accompanying driver of the installation
package is unable to support your Linux kernel
version.
If you execute the command of lsmod|grep ztemt in the
terminal and no result is displayed, please contact the
technical staff.
