What’s New in CaseWare Time 2016?

We have significantly improved CaseWare Time’s overall performance for both cloud integrated and unintegrated practices by re-designing CaseWare Time’s cloud merge functionality as well as introducing compatibility with newer versions of SQL Server. The performance boost enables you to focus more on processing time and billing your clients. We also took the opportunity to enhance the features you love most, such as filtering of reports and more. Additionally, we have resolved issues relating to Recurring invoices, Work Codes and Sorting of certain key Documents\Reports for an overall improved user experience.

Details of feature enhancements and fixes

1. Cloud IntegrationCaseWare Time 2016 takes less time to create and merge projects to CaseWare Cloud. CaseWare Time 2016 is morestable and has contributed to an overall time reduction when performing a year-end close while integrated withCloud. Other Cloud integration enhancements include: y Cloud button for direct navigation to your Cloud firm from within CaseWare Time 2016 y The association between contacts and entities can now be merged between Time and Cloud y Time and expense entries can now be billed when the staff member is inactive y Edits to time and expense entries can now be merged when the client is suspended y Status of work codes can now be defined and merged to Cloud y Clients defined as “Individuals” in Cloud will be merged to Time with their first name, last name y New Diagnostics is available to find and repair merge errors more easily.

2. Better security during bulk emailingYou can now set you’re a default connection security for emails sent for Client Batch Emails from the Company Profile. This ensures that your emails sent from CaseWare Time are wrap with the necessary security layer while traversing over the internet even if a staff member has not setup up their security options under Email Settings on the Client Batch Email screen.

3. Active Directory Authentication (Configuring CaseWare Time to remember your logincredentials)Active Directory Authentication’s easy synchronization and resetting feature has been improved to allow all staff members to login into CaseWare Time using their Windows username and password more easily. Once successfully setup this feature saves users the time of having to type in their credentials every time CaseWare Time is opened.

4. CaseView DocumentsYou will be happy to know that your favourite reports/caseview documents can now be sorted by Group Number and Partner/Manager. We resolved the issue where modifying a copy of a caseview document would modify the original and have provided better validation when filtering caseview documents. The Group Number and Partner/Manager sorting can be found on the following documents: y Proposed Invoices and Billing Invoices y Miscellaneous Invoices and Credit Notes

5. New SQL Server CompatibilityTo cater for your ever increasing database sizes, better and faster database responses we have added compatibility for Microsoft SQL Server 2014 and 2014 Express for an overall CaseWare Time performance increase when storing and retrieving information in your database.

6. Equation EditorThe equation editor which enables you pull complex reports has had issues relating to filtering “alternate codes“ and “dates” on some reports resolved. An employee’s Email is now an option under the equation editor filters.

7. Other improvements y Making Clients Inactive - You can now make a client with zero amount transactions inactive. y Write up/down -The write up/down balances of the Time Analysis Staff - Year to Date detail report has been

corrected with the introduction of “Personal Allocation” line on the report. y Recurring Invoices - Resolved an issue related to recurring invoice negative amount.

What’s New in TaxWare?1. IntroductionThis update to TaxWare is for both Standalone (Unintegrated) and Integrated practices. The update includes the latest tax tables (2018) and a new feature called SEZ (Special Economic Zone).

2. 2017/2018 Tax TablesThe income tax rates proposed during the 2017 budget speech have been updated in this version of TaxWare as well, for the 2018 Tax Year for all taxpayer types. These rates are required for Provisional and Annual Return calculations in TaxWare for the concerned tax year.

3. Special Economic ZonesWe have introduced the company type to accommodate companies that fall within Special Economic Zones into TaxWare. As all qualifying companies operating within a Special Economic Zones (SEZ) benefit from a tax rate of 15% you will now be able to perform Provisional and Annual Return calculations using this rate from TaxWare from the 2017 tax year onwards.

3.1 What am I able to do with this entity type?You will be able to perform all functions with the SEZ Company entity type just like you would with all currententities in the system. This includes: y Bulk/Single creation of Tax Years (2017 onwards) y Bulk/Single Processing of Provisionals y Bulk/Single Registration – The Corporate taxpayer type is the information that gets submitted to SARS and not

SEZ Company y Preparation and processing of Annual Returns y Preparation of Correspondence letters

3.2 Creating a new taxpayer of type SEZIn TaxWare, click the Taxpayer button followed by the New button. In the drop down menu of the New button select Taxpayer.

In the Taxpayer Information screen, navigate to the Taxpayer Type drop down list and select SEZ Company. Complete the remaining mandatory fields and click Apply to save your changes

3.3 Example of a Provisional Return calculation for SEZ CompanyThe following is what you can expect to see when performing a Provisional Tax calculation for SEZ. Notice the Tax on estimated taxable income calculating at a 15% tax rate.

What’s New in SecWare?

This release has been structured around the Annual Return functionality in SecWare. The enhancements allow you to process Annual Returns more efficiently by eliminating the process of logging into the CIPC website to calculate how much your customers need to pay for their Annual Returns.

Once all the necessary Annual Return information has been captured and saved, SecWare will keep track of the clients whose Annual Returns are due so that you don’t miss a deadline. The Annual Return functionality lets you: y Lodge Annual Returns in bulk or for a specific entity y View and print Annual Return information in reports y Select and view which entities will lodge their own Annual Returns either individually or in bulk lodged for a year

or certain years y Comment on the Annual Return easily directly from the Annual Return Management grid

We also took the opportunity to fix issues relating to reporting, shares and duplication for an overall improved user experience.

Details of the enhanced Annual Return feature

Capturing and saving of Annual Returns informationAs a user you will be required to capture very little information (such as the first year on which you would like SecWare to start administering Annual Returns) but will received an abundance of useful information in return. SecWare will generate the entity’s Annual Return yearly information and display it accordingly on the Entity or Practice tab under the Annual Returns Management. This functionality works in conjunction with the system date in determining the next Due Date and other useful information.

Annual Return ManagementSecWare now makes provision for the following Annual Return information, under the Annual Return Managementscreen, which can be found on both the Entity and Practice section.You will now have an overview of following information for all your client’s: y Start year of Annual Return admin End year of Annual Return admin y Client that will lodge their own Annual Returns Comments y Due Date Turnover y Date Submitted Return Fee y Penalty Fee Total Due y Monies Received

Calculation of Annual ReturnsSecWare will calculate Annual Return amounts, including penalty fees that need to be paid to CIPC.SecWare uses the following fee structures: y Companies Act, 2008 fee table for companies that have adopted a new Memorandum of Incorporation y Companies Act, 1973 fee table for companies that have not adopted a new Memorandum of Incorporation y Close Corporation Act, 1984 fee table for Close Corporations

A summary of the total outstanding amount will be displayed at the bottom of the Annual Return Management screen as shown below:

Lodging of Annual Returns in bulk or for a specific entityYou can select multiple Returns from the Annual Return Management screen for lodgement. SecWare will launch your internet browser and open the CIPC website immediately after clicking on the Lodge button. A summary of information for your selected Returns will appear alongside your browser to make the capturing of information on CPIC easy and convenient.

Annual Return information in reportsA new report, Entity Annual Return Records is now available in SecWare as part of the Annual Return Reports for companies and close corporations as depicted in the screen below: y Entity Annual Return Records Report: Available for all company types

Improvements

Adding new EntitiesFor better data integrity, we have made the Name field mandatory when adding a new entity in SecWare. As an extra precaution we prepopulate the Name field with the Client Code to ensure that some text is captured. You are urged to modify the populated text to suit your needs.

Report FiltersA new filter has been added to standard filters that will now able you to filter your annual Return report results on whether clients lodge their own Annual Returns or you lodge them on their behalf.

Content on ReportsWe have fixed issues relating to information being cut off during the previewing and printing of the followingreports and documents: y Director’s Designation in the Entity View Report y Nationality in the Entity View Report y Nationality in the CoR39 y Name and Address of Incorporator in the CoR15.1A y Email field under Contacts in the Company Status Report y Name in the Company Information Report

Member Certificates (CCs)Previously, interest quantities containing decimals would be rounded to whole numbers on Member Certificates.This is no longer the case. We have rounded interest quantities to two decimal places on certificates.

Duplication of Client CodesSecWare now prevents users from using an existing Client Code as a new code from the Entity List screen. Without this restriction entity information of the concerned entity would merge and cause data anomalies in some cases.

Converting a Close Corporation to a CompanyWe have reactivated the Director drop down arrow when converting a Close Corporation to a company.

Shareholder by PercentageThe shareholder by percentage total was incorrect due to too many zeroes behind the decimal. The zeros have been limited to 5.

Correspondence MergeThe Correspondence Merge screen under the Practice tab no longer displays duplicate entities. We have alsoextended the function of the Annual Event filter on the same screen to allow users to generate information forcorrespondence letters for a specific year.

New MoI adoptionReference to the Memorandum of Articles and Association has been changed to Memorandum of Incorporation.

SQL Server compatibilitySecWare is now compatible with SQL Server 2012 and 2012 Express as well as SQL Server 2014 and 2014 Express
