Dormant AccountsAn account is dormant when there have been no monetary transactions for one year or more [e.g. deposits, withdrawals, draft clearings, loan advances or payments]. Excluded from this definition are minors’ accounts (prime members under eighteen years old), members who have Share Certificates, IRA’s, an average aggregate balance of $2,500 for the last 30 days, or VISA® accounts serviced by MidWest America Federal Credit Union, and members who have been required to open accounts so they could co-sign on a loan at the Credit Union. A dormant account fee can be avoided by using your account to make it active again.

Non-Visa Debit TransactionsMidWest America Federal Credit Union enables non-Visa debit transaction processing and does not require that all such transactions be authenticated by a PIN. A non-Visa debit transaction may occur on your MidWest America debit card through the Star, NYCE, or Cirrus Networks. Below are examples to distinguish between a Visa debit and non-Visa debit transaction:• To initiate a Visa debit transaction

at the point of sale, the cardholder signs a receipt, provides a card number (e.g., in e-commerce or mail/telephone order environments) or swipes the card through a point-of-sale terminal.

• To initiate a non-Visa debit transaction, the cardholder enters a PIN at the point-of-sale terminal or, for certain bill payment transactions, provides the account number for an e-commerce or mail/telephone order transaction after clearly indicating a preference to route it as a non-Visa transaction.

• A non-Visa debit transaction will not provide the zero liability protection benefit, and if a Rewards program is present, a non-Visa debit transaction may not be an eligible Rewards transaction.

• Provisions of the cardholder agreement relation only to Visa transactions are inapplicable to non-Visa transactions.

Celebrating Christmas in Our Communities

This season, MidWest America has been busy in our communities spreading Christmas cheer. On Thursday, December 7th, a group of MidWest employees volunteered at this year’s Fantasy of Lights at Franke Park in Fort Wayne. The Credit Union had two movie-themed displays at this drive-thru viewing experience—one featuring It’s a Wonderful Life and the other was a large rendition of The Polar Express train. The proceeds of this event benefits Blue Jacket, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide education, training, and opportunities to any disadvantaged person who is striving to earn a second chance at gainful employment.

MidWest America was proud to participate in the 33rd Annual Festival of Trees at the Embassy Theatre in downtown Fort Wayne. Following the festival our 7-foot tree found its home at our New Haven branch. Proceeds from the festival contribute to the ongoing restoration of the historic theatre.

The Lima/Dupont branch participated in the Allen County Fair Grounds Christmas in the Country by decorating a tree that was given to a needy family through Cross Border Partners. All of the proceeds from this fundraising event will benefit the fair grounds building and grounds improvement.

The Waynedale office decorated a wreath that displayed at the Waynedale library and was auctioned as part of the Waynedale Holiday Wreath Show & Silent Auction with the proceeds going to the Waynedale Corridor Project.

The Mattoon, IL branch employees spent an evening volunteering at the entrance to the Mattoon Lightworks in Peterson Park. Donations from this annual event are used for park improvements.

Hopkinsville, KY employees were involved is several Christmas events including a float featuring “A Charlie Brown Christmas” in the annual Hopkinsville Christmas Parade. The branch also decorated a tree for the Hopkinsville Festival of Trees.
